I was thinking about something alike. Looks good!
Does it have another clear coat over the decals?
-
• #1379
No clear coat, I thought I'd just chance it with the decals as I heard mixed things about clear coating powder coat, and it already looked a bit thick . Might be worth speaking to your local powder coaters though. Ill have to see how it holds up !

Ah, you went for PC.. Missed that.
I've been looking into it again after mixed results in the past and it should be possible to have a thinner coating, but I guess it'll probably be even more expensive than I was charged by for a regular paint job by a place I found a little while ago.

Lots of colours...
Anybody know what RAL colour the Limey Green one is 6 up from the bottom orange colour??
Thinking that will look nice with a metallic lacquer !!
Cheers

That's the same green as the extension to the Geffrye Museum, fwiw. (We asked them for their RAL colour for something!)

Looks awesome!
Used griefs in bristol before, how much were RPA?
-
• #1389
I think it was £80 including all the masking for the chrome and threads. £60 for a standard colour. They were very helpful but if I had a frame sprayed again I'd probably use Griffs as I hear they're better, but they wouldn't do candys as they'd had issues with it peeling or something. RPA are also right near the train station and I couldn't get to Griffs !
The first time RPA sprayed it there were patches where the blue lacquer was too thin, I had to get them to do it again and it went on a bit thick around the lugs the second time. Shame as its a stunning colour.

depressing going on this thread at the beginning and seeing how much armourtex's prices have risen in the last 6 years.
my bike just got pinched so i'm on the market for a good respray on a simple steel eBay find, armourtex looks good since it's pretty local to me, but it's not a fancy frame so they seem a bit too fancy - anyone got any tips for somewhere to go for something a bit more rough and ready?

Looking to get my 1996 steel Basso Resprayed. I want a painter who can accurately match the period correct colours. Anyone have any suggestions?

Haven't had anything done by them myself but the work I saw in the shop seemed very decent, prices are a bit fairer, and they are stand up guys. #psnotashill

just had my frame wet painted at seabass, by cole coatings. was 140 for frame and carbon forks. which seems like a very fair price, especially for me as its round the corner :)

Thanks, I've been into their shop but didnt realise they did resprays. I'm considering getting the top tube and front mech hanger replaced as well, so might go with a builder, but I'll keep them in mind.

Just to say I believe they now offer frame repairs too.

Just sent my girlfriends bike in to Armourtex for a respray and dent repair - they were very helpful and diplomatic when explaining why my ideas were basically silly. Really looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Does anyone know anywhere that will do chroming/rechroming of frame/forks? Figuring none of the resprayers/refurbers do it themselves and might be able to save some pennies sourcing it myself?

Where would anyone recommend going for prep and wet spray on a bead blasted aluminium frame? Can't be powdercoated because carbon seat stays, which will need to be masked off.
