Ok Brucy, I think you might win it now. Your gear is clearly worth more than my ever-so-slightly weight-depressed Bowery. I think my offer was brillaint though. I mean, wheels!

He has not offered anything, he has listed it on Ebay and is using this place to spam.
Every one of his 30-odd posts has been proceeded with "for sale".
That only extends my question, does nothing to address my confusion.
I am genuinely perplexed at the hostility shown to people who offer bikes/parts for sale here, or link to an ebay auction where they have parts for sale, it's bizarre ?
Is there a problem putting 'for sale' at the start of a post where you are selling something ?

Tynan, I can't speak for others, but I'm just guessing. Could it be that a forum like this has a community spirit, and even if dogsballs for example thinks I'm an arse (GrandArse to the wags), we still take part in the different personalities on here. We also contribute. My guess is a person that comes on here and all their posts relate to sales of their own stuff, seems to be "using" the community for their own gain. Roberto sells stuff and so does briankwan, but they don't appear to ONLY sell stuff, but take part in the community also.
This is just a guess.

Some people may decide they do not want to be part of this 'community' as much as you you or they may not want to discuss topics raised here -
bikes may not be the be-all and end-all of their lives; they may not have time to post etc, so they come here when they need help or something related to their bikes -
the guy wants to sell something, thats his perogative - why does it matter to anyone if he does?

I thought Peter and Brian was an alias anyway. Or should that be "were" an alias?
Like the way dogs takes the price seriously, to the point of articulating a price none of us wanted to go up to...

I think you are probably right (?) - some kind of arbitrary moral reasoning (??).
Suppose you have some old camera lenses you want to get rid of, a quick Google brings up 'PhotographyUK.co.uk' - seems like the right sort of place, most of the forum members are based in the UK, it's even got a classified section, you - quite logically - think these people may well be interested in these old lenses, so you join up and post your lenses in the classified section.
Should you be unperturbed if you are told by the forum members to fuck off and take your shit elsewhere ?
My simple consequentialist view says that the forum members of PhotographyUK.co.uk have just reduced the amount of cheap lenses available to them at the same time as reducing the sellers range of places he can sell.
More business for Jessops and Evans all round.

Yes I believe it is wrong for someone just to come on here grubbing for money.

Can I ask you why ?

I like this little community thing that is going on here.

That's good, but can you say why you don't want people 'grubbing for money' ?

I think it detracts from the forum, why not let Evans set up an account here?
Without input and participation above poster is doing the same thing albeit on a lesser scale, namely seeking to take profit out of something they have contributed nothing to.

Luckily for me, my stomach weight and brain weight are less in total than the weight of my consciensce. So, I'm with 3_MA3K.
I don't think there are hard and fast rules for forums, but this place is a place which is odd, and here even some friendships sprout up. So its more important to some than just being "the internet". Its a little bit humanized here, and ebay is the perfect place to sell without consequence.

Ebays good for buying a shot gun and shooting the sellers tires as they are riding, mad max styleeeeee!!!!!
I'll give you my Giant Bowery in exchange. At least it has all the things that you were obviously robbed of; Wheels, tyres, saddle seatpost, crank and chainset. For your confidence, it has been tested by a very fit(?) man, and is deemed safe to ride.
I can't help pointing out that if you tried to ride your frame without a saddle or pedals, you would be slow.
What do you say friend?
