  • I'm currently into the three piece razors with lord blades, I'm yet to be afflicted by the usual terrible razor rash, and I don't cut myself, and I don't use moisturiser/ aftershave.
    brilliant things.

me too, i managed to find one a month ago. in fact i found two. i do use aftershave balm though.

  • ouch.
wet shave + balls = ouch.
    thought I'd share.
started off with electric on the belly, got carried away.
    hairless pits are lovely.

  • i tried out "city barber" in Tudor Street yesterday, and he was the most competent blade handler that has had a go on my face so far ... Haircut, shave, little hair on ears burning and removal of the hair below the eye with a string, hot towel, head, hand and arm massage for £29. Bit more expensive than in Finsbury Park, but still recommended.

when he did the shave he had a neat technique to lift up the skin by pinching it, and swiftly shave an area where i ALWAYS cut myself, and others have as well. Handling a knife like that while talking etc ... impressive.

  • It is really so mental to wax your face?

  • hairless pits are the only way to go. i've been a convert for years now.

  • sweaty? I like hairy armpits. inexplicably women with hairy armpits does it for me. Depends on the women obviously.

  • at 2.50 this is one of the most expensive on the shelf but worth it and added bonus is its unscented.

  • Best shaving product I've found so far is Razorantium by Lush, comes in a little tub, works fantastically, smells a little odd but you get used to it and if you bring back five empty pots you get one free, try it out if you have monster stubble!

really? have toyed with the idea. what are the main benefits for you? (serious question).

jesus christ man can you imagine?

Here's a girly tip, if you use one of these in a newly shaven area (eg: immediately after shaving) it should prevent you from itching like crazy.

roll on deodorant rather than being applied to the hair and clogging (not a nice look) is neatly applied to the skin, and less of it.

I tried this, and it was more trouble than it's worth. It goes right up your nose. Everything tastes of a men's changing room

  • Old school bump here - DIY Bay Rum aftershave recipe. Good read simply for the background.

    http://artofmanliness.com/2010/01/21/diy-bay-rum-aftershave/

  • That would be fine, but the recipes use bay leaves, which is not what bay rum is made from. It is a different bay.
    |I tried a home made bay rum with bay leaves and it turned out.......cakey

  • Ok, just read the part about using proper bay leaves........if only you could actuwlly find them anywhere - anybody seen them?

  • Bay trees are all over the place. ~There used to be a whole hedge of the stuff down near Gray's Inn. I went past one day and some landscapers were tearing the hedge out and chucking it through a shredder. Smelt awesome!

  • Dunno which thread to post this in but..

Dear guys who really shave their heads...Give me suggestions to get the best clippers you've ever used. Other than a razor bic..
Want to get dad an xmas gift.

  • Whal. No other comes close.

Oh yeah, and dem Bays wot dey is talkin' about ain't dem bays wot u is talkin' about. You need Pimenta Racemosa, not laurel leaves.

    This.

  • That's a good price.
I've also been recommended Wahls as well.

Dad's got some sight problems, so would like to give him something that's easy for him to do, rather than me having to do it all the time.

  • Gave myself my first cut-throat shave today. Went well, nicked myself a few times but hopefully this will happen less with practise. Very therapeutic.

  • Y'day gave myself my first wet shave for well over a decade with a Gillette 5 bladed thing - as opposed to the Phirrips multi-headed tool (as opposed to most of my X's who could be described as multi-faced tools, but I digress).

Best shave I've had for decades - smooth as a baby's, and no blood - well impressed.

  • Whal. No other comes close.

    +1

    But it is Wahl.

Nicks do happen less often and it gets more and more comfortable the longer you do it.

    Head shaving?
