• Fair enough, I hadn't seen anything this side of the atlantic on my initial search. Those problems can be sorterd for £50 though.

  • Look at the fucking state of it.....

Ordered a paddy wagon via work's cycle to work scheme. Had a Kona before, liked it. This is for child carrying and dossing about duties so was happy with a stout, fairly understated bike. Rather like this:

Get a phone call from Halfrauds (don't start, no choice there) stating it's delayed as they are switching to 2010 models. 'Fine' says I.

Just fucking look at it. Celeste green, orange rims and fucking track drops. Christ.

  • WTF???

That is HORRENDOUS! Whats the go with that stem too???

  • I know, it's chuff.

To add to the insult, they've left the steerer way long and spacered the fuck out of it, probably to address the lower hood position with the track drops.

  • Sorry Bobby...

I quite liked the old one. Are you sure they dont have stock anywhere?

  • Did ask, lady say 'no'.

Just putting up for giggles really. I'm not that bothered as it'll have a kiddie seat on it by tomorrow. And risers. And new stem. And new wheelset. Pehaps a respray....

  • Have you considered depositing it in the Thames?

  • I don't like the colour scheme, either. Couldn't they at least have colour-co-ordinated the wheels?

A similar thing happened when I ordered my Fuji in 2005. The 2005 model was the red-and-white one and I really wanted that. But as they were out of stock in my size (61cm) everywhere, it took ages, and eventually it was the blue-and-white 2006 model that was delivered. I was happy, as I liked that colour better.

  • Bobby D,
    you need to repaint,

that pink wall is ghastly and not becoming of a gentleman.

Yes, and why don't you have any thermostats on your radiator? Eh?

    They could be for show?

I am very much the new man, a metrosexual if you will. Pink flatters my skin tone.

Repaint on the way, hence dodgy plastering lash-up.

Cos I am determined that when I leave this planet it'll be fit for fuck all. I've got the heating on and the back door open as we speak. How do you like that eh?

I've also just thrown the packing for the green/orange monster in the main bin, not the recycling one.

All I can say is: You're a disgrace and you deserve the bike you've been sent. It's meant to make it easier for people to pick you out, like a prison uniform. So there. ;)

And now you'll have to ride it for a whole year at least, mwahahaha!

    The planet strikes back. ;)

    Excellent!

That pesky Gaia's up to her tricks again.

  • I've added the new (Baby Blue) Fary Fisher Triton. Its not bad actually.

I am contemplating removing all of the Condor bikes, unless Ed gets in there and lets them know that frame-only prices, removes them from this list.

I've added a small device for identifying steel bikes of traditional shape and look (Oliver you are powerful), then further enhanced the visibility of the more superior of this breed.

Are you sitting down? Good. Ellis-Briggs have raised their price for their fixed bike, to a grand.
Considering they went from £750-£800 in one year, and another jump to £999.99; it means in less than 2 years, the price has risen £250.

    EDIT:
I've now removed the Condor range, as they are no longer advertised as OTPs, but as framesets. And happily, I've added the
On-One Il Pompino back to the list, after quite a long absence. The price of £499 is the minimum spec, but now qualifies it as OTP.

  • I have a Mystic Rats from last year's run (2008) that is black with the red Miche hubs... I love this bike. I would suggest you wait for the white one you like. THey do default to durability so tips in at about 20 lbs. Have fun!

  • just startin out & looking for a steel fixie/single speed, retro ish looking. ideas anyone?

  • just startin out & looking for a steel fixie/single speed, retro ish looking. ideas anyone?

Probably just need to go into some bike shops and try some bikes out...

Do you want new or second hand?

New retro looking - Steel Langster?

    http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/langster-steel-2010-road-bike-ec020012?query=Langster

  • I've got a pre realease Steel Langer and it's fucking lovey.

  • yeah the steel langster does look good, released in january if i'm correct and at £499.......? in red only.....?

  • could i sell my new (15miles only) 'pearson touche 2010' on here?

  • What wrong the Pearson?

Condor have the new langster in stock, don't worry it come with a chain guard to stop getting oil on your jean.

  • nothing wrong with the pearson, its perfect. i just wish i'd waited a couple of months and bought a langster or other retro looking steel bike. pearson is alloy and has similar geometry to my normal road bike.......i need something different!

  • richieboy, yes, you could sell your bike on here, in the Classifieds section .

But why sell a bike that you only just bought? Were you forced into it? The Pearson Touche is an excellent bike. I'd either suggest that you modify it with components to suit the look you want. Or, buy a 2nd bike, that is quite different to the Touche. A bike for a different mood, so to speak.

Here is an example of a Touche modified to reflect the owner's tastes.

  • Forum people, should I create STEEL OTP BIKES List, that is Oliver-friendly?

What this means, is that the bikes are of traditional diamond shape and design, slim tubed, and with a horizontal toptube?

EDIT: Change of heart. There's enough info already, and I've made notifications to suit this. I won't bother. Oliver be damned. ;)

On a seperate note - I just had a look at the Bianchi Via Brera, and the rear hub is the
SACHS switchable ss/fixed. It looks odd, with it tapering upwards on one side.
