so have i, you'll change back when you realise you will buy 3 sets of cleats a year, as opposed to 1 set for 4/6 years

With SPD's I threw the cleat away with the shoe, with the ATAC's I've changed the cleats once.

So yes- the cleat is softer. I also buy longer lasting shoes these days though.

i wear the same shoes as you.
had a pair of sidi's for 9+years with the same sole and cleats, steel cleats make yer soles last longer
