  • Grippy front, slicky back.. just like my wome.. err.. yeah.

  • I have just come off a 4 hour skid, I skidded down from Sheffield, I only had to do a 3 mile sprint to get enough speed up for the whole skid, I only stopped once for a sandwich and coffee just outside Nottingham (left my bike skidding in a circle in the car park).

Had to re-shoe a couple of times on the hoof, but I recommend Gatorskins™ for any skids longer than 5-10 miles.

Tired of stained undies.. have your say in the anti-skid undie thread..

  • best way to resist skids is to control the rear wheel properly

  • yeah, but some times you gotta lock that back wheel up.

best way to resist skids is to control your rear end properly

  • stool control is so important.

  • sometimes when i skid, i shit myself

  • That's a shart?

  • I notice that after I have skidded I leave behind a long streak.

yeah, but some times you gotta lock that back wheel up.

I'm tempted to state the obvious here.

  • i am blind

  • Do the Stelvio Plus only come as a folding tyre? Wanna try one on my new rear wheel but worried it's gonna roll off the rim (H + Son), I've heard this might be an issue... Still not enjoying a GatorSkin on the back...

got the Stelvio Plus on my rear wheels today (new wheel too), been skidding for a while all day trying to warm it up so it'll feel nice and comfortable.

it really go up to a very high psi (145 to be precise), it was a bit unnerving when you held the uninflated tyres on your hand but regain confident once it's on the rims all pumped up over 100psi.

  • Have Armadillos front and back and can't stand them, no grip in the wet and sticky when skidding, don't know if anyone else finds that?? Planning a Continental GP 4000 for the front and a Vittoria Randonneur on the back...The Schwalbe Stelvio sounds promising though...

  • I ordered a couple of Randonneurs off Ribble yesterday free shipping and 10% off a £50 order = £10.76 each

  • ^ nice tires but the wire bead randonneurs are a fucker to get on the rim!

  • Which Randonneurs?

  • Dammit! I've only got a mill of clearance on a 25, not a hope on a 28... :[

  • dude, get marathons, run on the back, wear out a bit, then shove on the front....

    voila:

  • Is that on your brake bridge? All that skiddable rubber would makes them tall as anything too I think.

I cut my new chain 2 links longer to make sure I can get 28c clear of the chain stays.
I measured my 23c Rubino pros and they are closer to 24.5 so I'm guessing these may be 29-30mm.

  • had the Randonneur's on mine for 2 weeks now, seem pretty good, not that big for a 28, didn't think it would sqeeze in but had no trouble they are pretty narrow. more like a 26. and no probs getting on a cxp33

they only come as folding, but are really good tyres.

hold very well in the wet, the slick centre makes for good skidding, and they have quite grippy sides.

and they go up to 140 psi. been running them on my bridgestone for a few months now and haven't had any issues at all.

  • whats wrong with gatorskins
