bah can't post up the pictures of the carbon loveliness columbus aero tubing the mavic gruppo

it'll just have to make its appearance on the LO-PRO ride

Gazelle Lo Pro Mk. 2 ! This time I got one that fits !!

  • you can pay through paypal with a credit card without making an account afaik

    This is true (afaik)

  • Yes, get the seller to send you a paypal invoice.
you could then opt to pay this ' by clicking' i don't have a paypal account'.

it will then let you use a card, as long as keep ignoring its attempts to get you to sign up.

    I am a paypal ninja.

once you do that, the money is never coming back to you.
if the frame turns up with a dent in it, and the seller chooses to ignore your mails, you're fucked.

if you do it through paypal, you can enter a dispute with the seller, and they'll refund your money if he refuses to cooperate.

the protection they offer is very good indeed.

  • There are auction services who will do EU + Worldwide bank transfers/money orders for you way less than banks charge.

I use www.auctionchex.com licensed Bureau de Change etc.

  • I'm thinking of buying something from someone using paypal, outside ebay.

If the seller doesn't send the item, paypal says it can only get funds back that are in the seller's account.

So, if I send them money, what's stopping taking the money out and not sending the item?

  • Nothing.

and are you buying a replacement phone?

  • Yeah, Nexus One for £300. Trouble is they have no feedback. I was hoping to get it quicker with BIN rather than waiting for the auction. But I don't trust 0 feedback sellers.

  • I wouldn't either, where are they as it would be better to go with a mate (with a pick axe handle hidden in the car) and pay cash?

  • Pay with the credit card. And reverse the charge if you have problem

  • They are near Wolverhampton so not going to pickup.

  • Is his PayPal account verified with a confirmed address? I know it takes long, but then PayPal can debit their bank account if anything goes wrong.
Also, my wife got a new Nokia N97. The bastard who sold her the phone then claimed the insurance and the IMEI was blocked, so she can't use the phone within the EU :-/

  • As EEI says, with credit cards you can just 'chargeback' the payment. You should be able to do this against Paypal. Seemples

  • I'm not sure about the debit card, but it works with the credit one.

Done her a favour, shit phone.

  • She flogged it to a Jamaican woman. That's why many expensive mobiles which were nicked go abroad (mainly Nigeria or Ghana), because they can't be bricked over there.

    Ninja Edit! :D

  • I have their email address. How can I verify that they have a confirmed address?

  • *See if the seller is a Verified member of PayPal and has been a PayPal member for at least a couple of months. To check PayPal membership status, go to the 'Send Money' tab and initiate a payment to the seller. On the 'Check the details of your payment' page, before payment is sent, you'll see the seller's reputation link (e.g. Verified Premier Member) next to his or her email address. Click the link to see more information about the membership status.
    *

And like I said, if you decide to go for it, perhaps add a credit card on top of the debit one to your options (just in case) and pay with the former.

  • Thanks. I'll have a look now.

  • Doesn't look like the email they sent me is on paypal. I've asked for a verified paypal account.

  • Dodgy

  • Yeah, I'm an 'if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is' kinda guy.. we'll see if this prompts a decent response or if they scarpa.

  • Don't buy expensive things from sellers with 0 feedback.
