  • Could you draw ninja monkeys fighting robots in a kinda manga style, been meaning to get that on my arm for years.

  • Didn't realise it was Friday the 13th again, would've got something done.

    Anyone get lucky today?

    Also, looking good Jordan.

  • Never understood the Friday the 13th tattoo thing. I have a 13 in a skull in my sleeve and have quite a few bad luck tattoo imagery here and there, but getting it just because of the day and a cheap price seems a bit too Black Friday post-Thanksgiving sale at Best Buy to me.

  • Tradition

Mine wasn't cheap, but I like to think it's lucky.

  • Tradition is cool and all but is it really? Not knocking anyone's tattoos or even getting them done on this day, but I have a sneaking suspicion that before the mid-90s*, nobody was doing this. Pretty sure Sailor Jerry et al. never had a special because of the day.

*Wild-ass assumption on my part. As is the entire post.

Doubt he was doing a special deal no, funnily enough saw my uncle yesterday and he showed me his old Sailor Jerry 13 piece (copy obviously, he wasn't actually tattooed by Jerry, that would be awesome)

    He's got a 13 flash sheet though

  • Anyone got tattooed by Frank Carter?
I want one to say I have, but can't really find much of his work to get inspiration from.

I always thought that his move into tattooing was a bit disingenuous, but he's actually really good! He posts a lot of his work on his instagram, as does Frith Street.

    I like this

i guess its cos its fun,

same reason the shop i go to do a yearly 'old school day' where they only tattoo designs from a small sheet, no changes except names and all for £50 a pop,
they also do a Caturday where they only tattoo cat images from a pre drawn sheet and donate the cash to the shelter.

My friend got her ribs done at the last Caturday.

Not to my taste, but it's a cool idea.

    haha, nice!

I think Mr Balki would say

Nothing about the tattoos though - more of a history of the number 13.

From a tattoo standpoint, 13 is also used to represent the 13th letter of the alphabet, the letter M. The first pure "13" tattoos that I saw (early 90s) came from the Latino gangs in south Texas although I understand that it originated from the gangs in LA. It originally meant to signify a "made" member of "La M" - or the Mexican Mafia. It gained a wider spread use as a more generic "gangster" tattoo for hispanics.*

This use also shows up in the Offspring's "Pretty Fly" song lyrics. "He's getting a tattoo, he's getting ink done. He asked for a 13 but they drew a 31."

*- I used to hang out with lots of cops in South Texas. You pick up stuff.

  • I thought it could have been part of the "31" leather goods range.

    Urban myth.

  • I knew a Maltese drummer once, had an M tattooed on his hand. Variably at different times he said it was M for Marijuana, M for Mother and M for Murder. Murder I could believe as he couldn't keep time to save anyone's life!

  • Want this

  • Look good Jordan by the way

  • Anyone got a number or an address for Guy le Tattooer? I've heard he works in Berlin but I'm totally lost with google. Maybe I'm just being blind. Any help?

  • AKA? or was that something else?

  • AKA in Berlin and somewhere in France afaik.

  • Anyone been to Nine Nails Tattoo pitfield street?

  • Its fairly new but a nice clean studio and friendly bunch. Their books arent too full right now either.

  • Thanks Richoking. And are opinion on their work?? Their website isn't the greatest, i mean the pictures are not of the highest quality so its difficult to make out how they are. Guess I'll have to go down there.
