Bepanthen is out these days, changed the recipe. I just use a fairly neutral natural moisturiser. I don’t know what Hustle Butter is

Yeah, as mentioned don't use Bepanthen. The best I've used is Handy Gurugu from Lush (mostly because it smells incredible and is very gentle) but Aveeno is good, cheap and readily available. Anything really gentle but thick-ish will work for moisturiser. I can't remember what they did to make Bepanthen less good though.

Thanks all, I will have to get done stuff tomorrow, probably hit up Lush for immediate use then Hustle Butter in the post.
There's already been a small leak from the covering so guessing it maybe needs to come off sooner than the 4 days? I'll probably pop onto the studio to get their advice too as I pass it a few times a day.

Honestly as long as you keep it moisturised and don’t pick at it you’ll be fine.
My most solid tattoo was done in the height of summer in Malta, covered with a bit of kitchen roll that fell off within minutes of leaving the studio and I then went climbing all afternoon.Best advice I was given was to use whichever moisturiser works best for you anyway. I usually use cocoa butter or whatever random psoriasis moisturiser I happen to have to hand.
Keep it out of the sun for the next couple of months(if summer ever gets here) is probably the most important thing I’d suggest.

This is fantastic btw.

Thanks, I'm enjoying the learning process

Yeah this is solid advice. I don't get on with some things that others swear by. If it doesn't work for you, stop using it and try something else!

Handy Gurugu from Lush
I got some of this ^, and they had something called Elbow Grease which is for use in the future once healed, apparently discontinued but limited reissue. Seems odd if it is as good as reported.
So much different info out there the tattoo place reiterated Bepanthen and said it is fine, they even do a tattoo specific version.
It's so confusing as my mind wiring needs a "just do this" answer else I either get decision paralysis or buy everything.
Which reminds me, Hustle Butter is in the post too.
EZ tatoo film still on, will remove Monday aa advised and see where things are at then.

My collection has been growing since I last shared but this is the most recent. I've got two others also designed by my friend but this is the first that she has applied herself as she's new to tattooing. Whereas the others were illustrations that I have from her, this was a more open brief: "Like a stack of bones" was as precise as I got. Anyway, she nailed it and I'm chuffed.

Any updates on this JB?

Not yet. Expensive summer full of whitewater and backpacking trips. Be finished before summer's out though for sure.

My arm seems to be healing ok, bit itchy at times.
Did a couple days on Bepanthen Tattoo version after the ez-tattoo film, then hustle butter since. Found Palmers in local chemist for £4 so would probably go with that once the HB (£19 same amount) is all gone.
(I gave the Handy Gurugu to my daughter as hand moisturiser.)
Sunny today but sensible to keep it covered I guess?
Here's 1 of the 2 bits I got done, both quite simple designs, t'other is a record label logo copy.

Looks like it's healing well! Yeah, definitely keep it out of the sun. It's awful for tattoos in general but particularly brand new ones.

Thanks, it was in low sun for about 20 mins whilst I ran last night 7.30pm ish as I rolled annoying rubbing t-shirt sleeve up out the way so hopefully no damage done there.
I'll keep it covered next week, ta.

Can I get some tattoo advice please? Have sudden midlife crisis urge to get another. When I last had one (about 25 years ago), things were quite different ... I'm keen to get something a bit like the below image on my inside wrist. Where could I go to get this done with a high level of neatness? I'd refine/redraw in Illustrator, but is that acceptable? Do decent tatooists only want to do their own designs now? I'm open to someone else refining it, but equally am happy doing it myself.

My place printed the image to a transfer that they then imprinted a purple line onto me, they then followed the lines and filled where shading was needed. I was happy with this approach vs freehand.

people who leap to mind for this would be Paul or Nige
In general it is as you say, any tattooist worth their salt wouldn't be hugely keen on just replicating something someone brings in on a bit of paper. Anyone would be ok with you coming in with that and saying "I want a cartridge bearing, sort of like this" though, I would expect.
Both my suggestions are into bicycles in some capacity, if that helps.

Cheers - this is just the sort of advice I needed. I guessed that would be the case these days and I'm not against someone else improving/refining it - I'd want to simplify a bit from my example anyway.

Having done similar recently in the peckham tattoo place in the arches they were absolutely fine working from an existing design, did the transfer as someone said above and i was absolutely happy with the experience and the result.

• #13098
Do they have a website?
I've emailed Paul as suggested above as well - bit torn on whether I'd prefer to see if someone really good could come up with something cool based on the idea and just designing it myself. -
• #13099
I would say you would probably end up with something better if you let them use your idea as a starting point. But if you really want that design then probably best just to stick with it.

I showed the ninja tune logo I wanted to the guy who I was talking to about possibly doing mine, his eyes lit up and he started reminiscing about the label and his favourite artists from bitd & we spent the whole of the session where he replicated it listening to stuff from the label.
It's nothing fancy & not everyone's cuppa but I'm really liking it and am glad it wasn't done freehand.
