  • The results are in! 150 fined
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-25100379

I still haven't seen any on my commute.

    Are you this person?

this. i saw a woman get RLJing with a bright yellow cop stood next to the traffic light. *and *she must have passed the two clusters of police stood on the pavement a little.

  • The force said the fines issued were mainly for using a mobile phone while driving or passing through a red light.
    I feel safer already.

  • ^^ No but I commute in at the unsociable hour of 06:00, way before the plod can be asked to get to the street. I head home at 18:30, well after the 9-5 shift.

  • Looks like all the ones on CS7 had just decided to all hang out at E&C today instead.

  • No cops west at all. Bayswater, notting hill, she bu, uxbridge road. Not a sausage.

Same East this morning, from Lower Clapton through to TCR, not a PoPo, Sausage or any other breakfast edible on my route.

  • I waved at the large bunch hanging around doing fuck all at Shepherds Bush again this morning. There were also some near Regents Park on Euston Road.

  • 2 at Chelsea bridge on south side pavement just talking to each... Suppose they might be there to fine anyone cycling on the shared use pavement

  • london met there, setting a fine example to other road users by parking all over the pavement outside euston station.

  • None at all on my route in today and the drivers were every bit as chaotic as usual.

  • Saw few on Newington Butts while waiting at E&C's south lights (9.15 ish), but no others. I'm almost disappointed.

  • All those pointless and ill-informed warnings, blissfully ignored car/truck issues and some ped still gets hit by a bus.

While dutifully wearing his hi-vis, no less.

Hiding behind the bus shelter near the ped x-ing? Wonder how many motorists they stopped there.

Had a pleasant chat with a WPC this morning. Mostly about the weather though rather than my lack of helmet or hi-viz.

  • Saw some really bad driving, especially a van who almost push me off the road.

Police later inform me I should be wearing a hi vis, told them if they like it they should put a ring on it.

  • 150 out of how many?? Useless stat if not balanced.

  • Loads in Brixton again, a few at Newington Butts... Meh...

  • 150 idiot, non road tax paying cyclists stopped from throwing themselves under the wheels of innocent drivers? a job well done.

  • So, all fatalities last couple of weeks is their own fault, as they all were jumping red lights, not wearing hi-viz, listening to music and not having lights on during daytime? Drivers got nothing to do with this.

  • In the distance of 1km of my commute that actually happens on the road, I saw 3 car drivers running red lights today (at 3 separate junctions). Not a copper in sight to do anything about it of course.

This is how the wider public will read it unfortunately. The overriding message this operation gives is that it is purely the fault of a cyclist when it comes to injury and death in collisions.

I admit there's a lot of twats out there who need educating as it's not that simple just to hop on a bike and ride in central London traffic. But I feel we're all agreed that the education has to work both ways. I can certainly adopt a safer approach to riding but that is also reliant on other road users adopting an equally safe approach.

It's the Us and Them attitude that is really hurting.

  • It is us and them. It's totally us and them.

  • Fuck it.. Lets start a fucking war.

  • Start a nuclear war...

  • .

  • .

  • Ok, I was in Angel junction. loads of cops, not sure if I heard right but one guy got stopped and got asked where his brakes are. Guy on a blue fixed Dolan running brakeless, Angel heading to City road. So, keep an eye on them cops if you're running brakeless.

Apparently a colleague here at work got a warning this morning because half of his bike is not on the bike box during a red light...
