on the subject of over rated...
War of the Worlds....
waste of time...
Shame.....
the Original 1950/60s film was quite good, quite enjoyed it when I was a kid. Also the H.G. Wells the time machine (the 60s version) was damn good. Probably both extremely dated, but was quite fun to watch when I was 10 on a saturday evening.

I was hoping the remake was going to be alright, but as we know more often than not the remake is awful.

That film fucks me off on so many levels. I wont start.

Yep, it's outrageous drivvle. And no amount of Kiera Knightley's midriff can salvage it.
-
• #240
Yeah... not what I was getting at, but yeah.
-
• #241
Go on then...?
-
• #242
Kiera Knightley was in LMNH last week.
She was in Domino, which is apparently a shit film, just to keep on track.

The Curse of The Puppetmaster
I remember watching that when I was about 10 and thinking wow this is good. I don't think I'd have quite the same views now.

i watched gran torino last week. i won't say it was shit because it's not... but it's nowhere near as good as a lot of people made out.
i found it clumsy, predicatable and quite patronising. it reminded me of crash (haggis not cronenberg) and it's apparently deep revelation that "black people can be racist too". i mean. wow man. i think a lot of us took a good long look in the mirror after being told what to think by that film.
i like clint eastwood as rule but the pacing was all over the place, some weirdly ham-fisted cuts and terrible acting as well.
not shit. but definitely not great.

I really didn't think it was trying to do this.

God yes.
What a fucking abomination.Remakes tend to fall into this catagory though.
Not many better than the originals.
I also dislike the term 're-imaging' just call it a remake!Shit remakes:
Planet of the Apes
Wicker Man
Get Carter
Italian JobI feel this may deserve its own thread.
the remake... Tom Cruise \Dakota Fanning
