  • I've tried hydrocolloids before, my last experience kept a wound too moist and it didn't heal so quickly.

I've got Mepore on the hip and nothing on the knee. I'm sure with a bit of HTFU I'll work out whether I want to do this.

  • Duoderm. Best thing ever.
Make sure you;ve 3cm of it each side of the would, for puss protection, then tape it up. Makes would healing quick, easy and painlow.

  • Duoderm are amazing, my arse healed up in under a week using them when I had a pretty bad crash.

  • Chicks dig scars. Fancy wound dressing >>>>

  • "just bleed on her - she'll love that.."

  • Just about to buy BC license. Any reason to pay the extra for gold membership?

  • Nope.

  • Had my first 4th cat crit tonight. Didn't crash or get shouted at, and finished about 15m behind the bunch. Gonna call that a success

  • M = metres or minutes?

  • Miles. (Metres)

  • Well done, a good debut.

(Although if you were that close to the bunch why weren't you contesting the finish?)

  • Hilly circuit?
Hillingdon is tuesday so was probably Cyclopark or Hog Hill, so finishing out the back of the bunch makes sense, or bunch pulled apart up finishing hill.

  • Mallory Park in Leicester. We were on a pretty flat circuit last night, but I was too far back on the final chicane and wasted too much energy sprinting into a headwind catching the bunch to have anything left for the finish. Learnt a lot about positioning so hopefully next week, on the hilly circuit, should be better.

  • That is definitely a success on your first crit. I've never raced at Mallory but most of these motor circuits are tough places to keep your position, especially if you have to swap sides of the buch every lap to shelter from the wind. Master that and stay in the top 15 riders on the last few laps and your in with a shout. Sounds easy right.

i've never bothered with gold, i cant remember but maybe it has better cover for riding/racing abroad?

  • Raced again last night and lost out on points by a hairs breadth... It's much more fun when you have a crack at the final sprint :)

  • nice one! next time...

  • Youth Tour on the Isle of Man this weekends. The future of our sport is looking good.

  • I can't see Nancy anywhere in the photos. She must have dropped them all.

  • Great photos, Andy.

  • Has anyone ridden the TLI road races at North Weald Air field? Whats the format? How long are they? 4 left this year and i'm tempted to give them a go.

Here is an account of my abortive attempt at road race promotion.

When I was out (just for a little ride on my own) last weekend round Ivinghoe Beacon, it struck me just how many road works (many with traffic lights) there were. When we first became aware how serious our problem was, I did wonder whether in future we should look for another course, perhaps further out from London, but it seems to me that with the roads as they are nowhere is safe.

I don't know where we should go from here.

  • Good write up, such a shame about the race though.
