If you can't get any 4th cat only races try for 3/4 cat, the more racing you can do the better.
Getting dropped is quite demorilizing but remember its a fine line between getting dropped sometimes and doing ok, you just have to deal with it! My 2 races this year have been getting dropped 2/3 of the way through to getting a top 20 place the next week. Last year I never managed to finish a race till about July

Which one are you in?
(I'm in my first on Saturday at Hillingdon)There's a weekly series of 4th cat and 3rd/4th cat races ran on a motor racing circuit near me that starts on the 9th of April, so I'll try and get down to them. TBH I'm trying to focus on TT'ing, so I'm only planning on dabbling in road racing (unless I fall in love with it).

I got a DNS. When it should have been a DNF.
Crashed. -
• #167
Maybe you crashed in the neutral zone?
-
• #168
Neutral zone?
Is that like the "not quite in the 5 laps that count zone"? -
• #169
I was joking.. but I do recall some of the lower grade crits in Oz having a 5-10-15 lap(?) non-racing period at the start, before riders were allowed to properly kick off, maybe with a more senior rider in the bunch throwing out advice.

I crashed in the last lap once. Got DNS. Just the way it is.

Crashed.What happened?

Fuck knows. I didn't hold my line is probably the answer.
My recollection, fwiw, is that someone on my right moved when I was in the group. I moved. My front wheel:someone to my left's rear wheel.
BANG.
down. -

Anything broken?
-
• #174
Rips to jerseys, helmet broken, bike apparently ok (fork getting checked (carbon-fingers crossed)), front wheel needs some spoke key love, overshoes torn, levers scuffed.
Nothing major.Road rash taking longer than I want to heal up, can't flex knee comfortably. Going for a spin tomorrow to see if Saturday is an option.

Ouch. Have you tried a hydrocolloid dressing? Expensive but worth it.
Cheers all. There's 9 of us entering from my club and only one (a 3rd cat) has raced before so the rest of us will be happy to finish! This is going to be my only race for a while, until a regular series of 4th cats start in the summer.
