• had the vittoria's, great comfy shoes.
would defo buy another pair...if I rode again.

    ^lazeee ballbag!

  • QUOC PHAM TOURING
    vs.
    VITTORIA 1976

anyone have/ had both? anyone got either?
    x

I have the 1976s and the original no-cleat Quoc Phams.
The latter are way nicer, but the huge football boot sole of the tourer put me off buying those.
I like the miraculously thin spd soles on the Vittorias much more

  • I haven't been bowling in ages.

  • Anyone had any experience with the DZR Jetlags? I like the look of them but I'm a little worried about the whole-slip on thing...

  • I wanted them too when they first came out, but all the reviews I have seen suggest that heel slippage is the biggest issue with them. Shame, because them look really nice.

Very true. Got them before I got the Kursk's and you might as well attach cleats to a paper towel stuck to your feet. Kursks are much more solid in comparison. I preferred how the Jetlags looked, but they weren't made for aggressive use.

  • Yeah, the slip-on system doesn't really seem to match with riding with any amount of beans.

Until I had a look around I didn't actually realise that Chrome did a Truk Pro. It's the most acceptable style in their range, I think. I think I might pick a pair up, unless the hive mind says they're rubbish?

I managed to snap my Milltags in half, both shoes. I've spoken to the guys there, and apparently it was an issue with the prototypes which has now been resolved. I haven't had much contact since I've left Kinoko, which is annoying because I still think they will still be the best looking casual SPDs on the market when they're finally released.

  • I've got a pair of Jetlags, and I rather like them. They're pretty loose fitting, but for trips to the pub and the shops and for commuting (as long as it's not prommuting) I think they're fine. I wouldn't want to do a century wearing them, but then that's not what they're for.

  • not prommuting

    pfffffffttttttt Cat 5 for LYFE

  • The velcro-only fastening on the DZR Jetlags is pretty bad. My girlfriend has a pair that are about 6 months old. Now the velcro just gives way with any hard pull up when riding fixed; her foot often comes right out of the shoe! Unlike the other horror stories related to DZRs in this thread (including mine), she doesn't ride brakeless.

  • That's an interesting design flaw. I guess one large strap can't withstand repeat pull forces. I wonder if the shoe improves with multiple straps. I know this makes it look more like a kids shoe (I frikking love velcro), but for the sake of convenience I imagine people can't really complain.
Combination of lower velcro and upper laces would just be a hassle.

The Milltags Morgan mentioned up there were the nicest casuals I'd seen so far. Shame it's been yonks since we heard any updates.

  • I've got the jetlag's bought off clefty. Use them for summer use, pootling, a bit of city riding. Find with the velcro strap you need to pull it across quite tightly to secure your foot.
Used them both brakeless and not, and have had a couple of incidences of strap pulling loose, but then was just extra careful with pulling the strap tight to overcome this...

Like them, when this pair go boom, will probably buy another...

There are plenty of single strap shoes that worked just as well, such as the Specialized Tahoe.

Methinks it's just poor design rather.

  • Yes, but the specialized make do with laces as well. That was my point. 100% convenience didn't work for the Jetlags.

  • Apologise, have not realised the DZR you mentioned does literally only have a single strap.

  • Still... They are great looking shoes. Shame really.

  • I think I might pick a pair up.

Fuck it - I saw them, I liked them, they fit.

    Impressions to follow

  • new entry will be a good thing...but would never ride fixed clipless on a kickstarter project...

  • Doesn't seemed to allowed much in adjusting cleat position.

  • new 2 bolt pedal option on the horizon

How about the fact that there is no platform other then the flimsy looking cleat plate, Such a small contact area surely affects power and comfort.

  • Burn.

Weight Weenies are going to be all over this.

I don't think it's as much of a consideration with the stiffness of modern carbon soles...
