why not just buy a proper wheel or save your money?
-
• #178
Why would you need to pay before you see it? That sounds odd to me.

I can't see as I'm not in London this week and he's got a rent payment at week end or something.
Having said that I have just forked out the better part of £200 to get the Cervelo back on the road and I am waiting for another £150 bill from Sigma as well. Maybe I got a little excited about the whole thing.
Would be nice to have, esp for when I get the Vigorelli I think it would look pretty good on that too.

this has been bugging me for a while. Whenever i watch any pro cyclists, thaw always seem to have the more aero wheel at the rear, for example a tri spoke up front and a disc at the back. Could someone please explain why all the single speeders and fixies on the road seem to do the opposite and have the aero wheel up front. Is there a valid reason or did blb just put so many images of it on their site that people have just copied them?

looks / coolness, obviously.
Beside that, the front 'breaks' the air. usually a track cyclist will have a 3/4/5 spoke front and a disc rear, except in group events where slipstreaming permits a disc front as well. I think.

In fact the front makes more aero difference than the rear.
But having an Arrospok up front is not about being aero, its about have a rubbish, heavy, flexy, but cool looking* wheel on your bike.
*Well, some people think they do.

because asm wouldn't stop pm'ing you so you just gave in a bought it.

i guess it's more practical. you want the looks but you don't want to fool around with your chainline or get your limited ed. streetware hoodie dirty when exchanging the rear bc of material defect.

i get the track and time trial set up, was just wondering if there was any reason (other than super mega cool hispter looks) that london town commuters would do it the opposite way.

The front wheel creates the most drag, but it is also the wheel you would least like to be blown sideways by the wind. TT'ers compromise between aero considerations and stability by having a disc rear and a deepsection/spoke type front. This is also covered by UCI regulations.
As for fixies. Well if you riding pretty upright on a pair of risers, you obviously could'nt give a monkeys about aero. Its mostly about the look (possibly strengh too). I for one like my bikes to look nice.

Purely aesthetics.Firstly, the seconds afforded from an aero benefit are negated when riding in the stop.start.dodge the fucking morons. stop.start nature of London Cycling.
Secondly, you'd have a better aero advantage swapping the jeans and new era for lycra.
-
• #196
you would have an even more aero advantage if you fitted drops and held them by the low bit at the bottom that points back towards the rider.

It's all about that special whooshing sound you get from a trispoke on the front. Nuff said.

I read that it was so that you could sling your Krypto chain through the front wheel quickly to lock up. That's apparently why couriers started running them. Then fakengers caught on to the coolness.
This is all just from some journalistengers article.

i hate using my phone to post on this site. Someone has always answered again before my post goes up. So basically it's looks but also a little less maintenance. Fair enough.

I remember in November 2007 I was definitely going to have an Arrospok on my dream bike. Time is a healer.
That sounds like one of the custom Aerosuddendeathospokes. They aren't too bad. Enjoy!
