It's not always the ped's fault

  • Watched some stupid cunt in Pearson cycles kit on a Bianchi plow into an old woman on Holland Park Ave.
She was using the crossing, there was no traffic, I was stopped at the lights on the other side of the intersection and he flew from the right and took her (and himself) down.
By the time the lights changed and I went past he was helping her up and some other riders appeared to be walking her to the side of the road.
I hope she's alright. It's a bit hard to drop the 'cyclist running down old lady' stereotype when this shit happens. Slow the fuck down near ped crossings and open your eyes.
I wonder if he was hammering on his way to Hillingdon for the racing?

  • sounds like a complete cock.

today i commuted back from the library in the rush hour. infinitely dangerous activity due to terrifying bike skilz on show from the masses. freaked me right out.

  • This guy didn't appear to be a summer gumby and should fucking know better.

  • nimhbus take note.

I hate people blowing ped crossings at speed. it's blokes in full kit on decent bikes who clearly think themselves adept just as it is the "straight ahead" noddys.

if you want to be quicker, then ride faster when the road is clear and learn to filter traffic better.

yes peds are cunts and never look and step out all over the road, but one place where they are supposed to walk needs approaching with a bit of fucking common sense.

    C+ out.

  • What a cock.

My Grandmother was mown down in a similar fashion: she broke her hip. Thankfully, she recovered fine. On the down side, he didn't have a penny to his name and was up to his eyeballs in debt - hence no compensation.

  • is your grandmother a man or a woman? and why is she/he in debt?

  • He being the assaulting rider!

  • ^ Yeah, the fella who knocked her over.

  • nimhbus take note.

fuck off. if she had used the crossing properly, and not stepped out 2 feet before the crossing, at an angle, right in front of me, there wouldn't have been an issue.
no court in the land would have convicted me, as she wasn't actually using the crossing.

the highway code states that they must stand at the crossing, on the pavement, and wait for traffic to stop for them. not dive out without looking.

  • More proof that it is not the choice of transport that makes the twat, people are just twats.

I wasn't referring to any particular incident, although you seem to have the guilt.

I've seen you run crossings right through peds when they've been in the middle on several occasions. and don't tell me to fuck off or I'll slap ya

    "must" ?

but there are no laws for pedestrains, you have to give way to them, whenever and wherever they step into the road. (not sure about motorways, but it's not relevent to cycles)

so actually, you talk about court and blame, but you would be in the wrong for hitting a ped even if it's their fault.

I'm sure once you become a more experienced cyclist you'll understand these things better, at the moment you're still suckling on the distended teat of uncertainty.

  • This woman was crossing completely within her rights.. and even if she wasn't there was NO reason to go anywhere near her - the road was clear. The cunt was going too fast coz I don't know how he didn't see her.

  • "distended teat of uncertainty."

May I use that in future conversations RPM?

  • yep, peds always have priority. i do get pissed off with them when they cross out of nowhere, or when they cross on red man, but i think the law is right .. whoever is more powerful (i.e could cause the most injury) should yeild to those less powerful.

  • lpg speaks the truth.

What we need is a bottom up approach to this problem.

  • If you could just go ahead and action that, that'd be great.

  • when your cycling down a road and someone pops out from in between parked cars and doesn't look your way (not at a ped crossing) causing you to swerve etc then i think its alright to shout a noise to shock them...... even though you have already undertaken the situation and avoided them its good to make them more aware of what's happening not just on the roads but generally whatever is around them........ better for all then and will make them think next time.

however.....when cars fuck up......ohhhhhhh i take advantage....."watch it you fucking plum!!"

  • I'll put the gears in motion, but first we need a pre-plan.

  • Being on a bike doesn't make you more powerful than a ped necessarily. What if a skinny fuck like hippy was riding his bike and collided with the President of the United States?

(subliminal message - hippy, go to Regents Park and collide with George Bush)

  • ^ The good old days ;]

    A. fuck off

    b. you know fine and rightly that you were talking about saturday, and nothing will convince me otherwise

    c. if you have seen me run so many crossings, then you must have been behind me and followed me through, as i certainly don't remember having to wait for you as you were stopped at a zebra crossing ever.

    d. the old 'inexperienced cyclist' line isn't going to work anymore, i'm afraid. you'll have to find a new stand-by..

It doesn't need to be subliminal.. I've been looking for that fucker for days..
