I think you mean "order". I don't read posts in these shit threads. I just post to them. You don't get a post count like mine by "reading".
would you be so kind as to point out the way the 'good' threads please?

I'm with Sheldon, chain cleaning isn't worth it, unless you take the chain off and really soak it.
I use Purple Extreme (which looks really thin, but sort of goes gooey), let it soak in overnight and wipe off the excess. works brill on my geared and SS chains. it isn cheap but it lasts for ages cos you dont need much.
I'm also with Hippy on reading posts, so apologies if someone has mentioned it already.

A daily lube with a mixture of olive and cod liver oil will guarantee your chain to last at least 85 years. Fact!

Whoever suggested using baby wipes to clean the chain before lubing, I think you. Did that this morning and it worked brilliantly, and was a piece of piss. If something is easy to do then I am more likely to do it often.
Win.

wow. the mountainbikers are practically raving about rock'n'roll gold.

stop using chain lube! just clean your chain, not lube it.
my other bike has never been lube for 2 years, only been clean with a rag every now and then, and it's still fine.

Ed - your full of shit sometimes. Always lube a chain.

always as in every months? no it's not necessary.
I'll have to take a quick photo of the missus' bike chain, she been using it everyday for a year, yet the chain appear to be fine, a quick wipe with a rag, and the occasional spray of WD-40 to wash off the grit is plenty.
^Why don't you merge something, Mr SuperModerator? Like your fat head and your even fatter arse?
