I'd also say that stealing a large company's logo is very different from exploiting a small independent company. A large company won't feel it, the smaller one can be really hurt by it.
eh? one or t'other I would have thought Roxy - otherwise who's to decide at what level/size of company it becomes 'ok' to distort or appropriate their identity?
I didn't say that either is Aok, just that they are different levels of unethicalness

Oh just get a sticker from an Apollo bicycles and stick it to that frame.
should keep the theft eyes at bay (at least).

Cover it in Roxy's photographs, paste them on and then clear coat it - then finish it off with a big 'ROXY 1000 logo.

what are you suggesting roxy, that this is a level of unethicalness! :^]

I agree with the car analogy. Like putting a Ferrari body on a cortina chassis. I just bought a raleigh 531 frame frome the bay that has been rebadged as a Rossin - and I figured that's why I got it cheap @ £30 with a 600 chainset. Those Rossin decals came straight off. But also - it's your bike and you should do whatever makes you happy. I have some Litespeed decals if you're interested. ;)

Freddy and the Dreamers
we've since split up. It was over an argument as to whether to engrave NJS on a langster.

NJS on a langster.
that sums up this whole debate!
never mind if it's right or wrong, you'll look like a twat to those in the know.*

whats wrong with old claud butlers? the new mass produced ones suck yeah, but the old ones were hand made in Clapham out of 531.
Would you rebrand your shonky £2 pumps as Sidi's? No.

Whoops, you are quite right, I got it wrong.
Great song. :)

love the hot rods, but was Manfred Mann first, with some pretty stupid lyrics:
"I don't need no politicians to tell me things I shouldn't be
Neither no opticians to tell me what I oughta see" -

I don't know about an "ethical" opinion but I wouldn't bother farting about with logos, just blank it. Technically it's not illegal unless you try to pass it off as the genuine article.

I agree with roxy but then I own an artisan hand build bike and I don't want some scruffy herbert perloining may makers mark and sticking it to some mongrel bike built in a Chinese sweat factory by childen coercesed to work sixteen hours a day for tuppence an hour . Incidently I find that if you have to ASK if something is wrong that deep down you probably know that you shouldn't do it.

When I was racing as a kid my track bike and my road bike (apart from being totally built up from second-hand parts) were both resprayed and rebadged as Geoffrey Butlers....could never have afforded a real one....don't know how that makes me feel about this issue now.
Do what you want, ignore everyone elses opinions, just don't attempt to sell it as something it's not.
