If contraception could be relied on, maybe. Children born from incest are at huge risk of getting two copies of damaged recessive genes, so it's irresponsible to risk conception of such children.
Back to this discussion again....
How many of your sexual experiences have lead to offspring? how many of anyone's has?
I think jumping straight to the 'what if' of inbred offspring is side stepping the actual issue. Two consenting people who are capable of understanding what they are doing, should absolutely be preserved the right to have any manner of sexual interactions with each other. This is their private business and a basic human right I think.
The majority of sexual activity does not result in offspring so this should not even be brought into the debate. Also, even in the case of inbred kids, they are not always born fucked up. They are more likely to be totally fine.
As far as the 'taboo' niche's of sexuality go, incest is pretty fucking mainstream and has been common forever.
It is not for everyone sure, and it grosses most of us out. But would not this disgust be equatable to homophobia? Think of all the rhetoric "it is not natural!" seems identical.

Let me guess, you have a very attractive cousin?

Channel 4 ran a pretty depressing documentary on the state of the seas some years ago. It's a reason I rarely eat tuna (overfishing) and don't eat cod (overfishing) but go for mussels/sea bass.
It's a really tough problem as it's a "tragedy of the commons" issue: Nobody owns the seas, so lots of companies just go in and grab what they can else "others do it". It needs a complete rethink of stock management / cleanups on a global scale unfortunately.
Definitly fecked up.
On land we have farms. Sure some folk go into the woods and shoot stuff. But thats controlled, and probably doesnt add up to much of a percent of the populus's meat intake.
Due to lack of land, or too many people. Farming has screwed up the land somewhat. But can you imagine what would happen if the massive food corps were allowed to just empty wild areas of animals for slaughter, packaging, and sale in your local super market.
I eat loads of farmed fish. Its not ideal (toxin levels are higher for a start). But it seems a more sustainable option to me.
The latest thing up here. Is dragging huge metal spades along the bottoms of the fjords. To collect seaweeds for export (for health foods I think). Pretty sure the company(s) involved are US owned. So the locals dont even see much money in return for fucking up their local marine areas eco system.

In a notable number of Asian communities in Britain (and presumably the subcontinent too) there is a significantly higher incidence of birth defects and deformities due to the tradition of marrying people from the same small community, beit the here or the village back home. (The stated ratio was up to 50% of marriages in ex-rural Pakistani communities involved first cousins, and there is an apparently high number of niece/nephew marriages in Indian communities, which is an even closer relationship)
Genetic diversity is necessary. it's not just about one generation, but the cumulative effects of inbreeding over many generations. There doesn't seem to be a recognisable problem for the child of the first pair of cousins, but 2 or 3 generations down the line, and you get stats like 30% of all British-Pakistani children have recessive genetic conditions compared with a 3% national average (which probably includes gingers).

It didn't take corporations or supermarkets, hunting by humans put paid to most of Europe's large herbivores before we had either.
