that must fuck with the structural integrity of that bridge being struck so often, i know a lot of railway bridges in the uk have priority numbers to call and signs with precise location codes on them to alert the railway if they're struck by anything.

I expect they check it after every bridge strike, but steel ones like that are much more tolerant of getting hit than our Victorian brick structures. Also quite likely that the beam being hit is just there to be hit, and not part of the essential structure.

There's a low bridge in Wimbledon which gets too tall verhicles bashing into it quite often (every couple of months at least), every time they close both the road and rail track, usually for about an hour while people in hi-vis check it out.
