I'm doing a BA in Photography and for the final honours project there's probably about 25% of the class aren't taking any photos, they are using images from archives, movie stills etc.

I'm not in that 25% but the idea of appropriation or at least of re-photography - making a photograph of a photograph rather than a screen print etc - kind of appeals to me.

Imagine taking someone else's work and reproducing it frame by frame, I mean drawing by drawing, in order to further your own career. Beyond belief.

she was a really shitty person, stole all of her final years work from someone else, then won a renowned industry prize with it. Luckily she was caught. there was a fair old bit of up roar at the time over it.
