The people you're mentioning seem to be the vocal minority, sadly.

I'm not bothered by your spelling, more by the fact that it was brought up and yet no one noticed. It's the same feeling I get when things don't line up with table edges.

I got the first one but I left the others for others;-)

Have you ever met someone who went to oxford who hasn't told you so within your first conversation? It's quite extraordinarily predictable that they do...look out for it.
i have met loads that went to oxford and haven't mentioned it. perhaps you just come across as someone who might be impressed by the fact. where as i drip with couldn't give a fuck

I used to yentz a girl in 6th form who went there. Went from awesome/normal to raving toff almost immediately by all accounts.
I heard there was a nice middle class boy from nice middle England, who went on a fixed gear forum and started mixing with oiks from Liverpool/Swindon. Ended up sounding like an extra from a Danny Dyer film...

this.
I grew up in oxford, both my mother and brother work there. Massive pellets, all of them. Couldn't get the fuck out of that 'city' fast enough. To be fair I think the people I know (i.e. work with as none of my friends from home went there) don’t bang on about it and, as others suggest, only mention it if asked directly. That said I was convinced the stereotypes you hear about Oxford students would be true despite knowing differently. My preconceived prejudices were shattered the first time I went there. I’d gone to help with a rough sleeping count and turned up on a wet midweek night at 10ish. The first person I saw after I stepped onto the street was (I presume) a student walking around in top hat and tails.
Top hart and fucking tails. ffs. I’d like to say that he was the exception to the rule except I saw 4 others over the next hour.

"Daddy. How did you and mommy meet?"
"Well son, funny story... I almost killed my dog, in a moment of cuntish stupid cruelty, and the rest is history..."
