My bike fell between the wall and the gate this morning at half 6, making a 5p sized 'hole' on the top tube made worse by it being a Condor frame that have that slightly triangular-pointy top. When it got light I notice a bit of a dent across it too. Any ideas for plan of action and how much it should cost if I want to do more than fill it in with black marker?? Is it worth going to Condor? Thanks....

a hole? as in where metal once was, there is no more?

Fame renovators can fill cosmetic dents with brass before re-enamelling. This will cost you (though the filling of dents itself is not a large part of the bill).

nor is it an effective repair in any way but a cosmetic one.

Sorry, no not a hole, but more than a paint scratch to the surface. Like a gauge. And not a huge dent, but it's definitely out of shape slightly. Can they tap it back into shape? Why does this sort of thing leave you so mad! Any idea of who could fix it? Thanks again

Frame Preservation
i. Don't hang you're groceries from the handlebars- Don't undo a heavy lock in a hurry, the heavy part is magnetically attracted to the down tubes.
3.If leaving it unattached for a short period, like closing your front door try to lean it at 45 degrees. - Don't let forum members attach their beaters and polo bikes to yours.
- Don't let Object anywhere near your frame.
- Try not to store it in a confined space unless it's a padded cell.
- get on first name terms with a good professional renovator, lure him/her with promises of 47 resprays, shower him/her with gifts of a liquid nature and mix the hard projects with the easy ones.

How about this one...?
As you can see, it's a very (very) big dent, the seat stay is basically folded in half, as well as flattened outwards and kinked. Plus the dent is at the bottom of the tube, next to the dropout, which according to Prof Google is a typical failure point.
On the other hand, the frame is a "bombproof" Charge Plug, made of the finest Taiwanese steel.
Can I still ride this? If not, is it worth trying to fix it, or is it a write-off?

So angry at the moment.
Cycled into college Ccamberwell) at around 5.00pm today and locked up my bike ( black mercian track and path) outside and went in to do some printing.
Finished my printing and all is good.
All is good until I get outside and find that someone has taken a good old smack at my bike and left a nasty dent in the toptube!
Really pissed off because firstly there weren't many bikes locked up that late so it's unlikely that it was an accident and secondly it's the first dent to the bike.Sorry to rant, just really annoyed.

Dude, i feel for you! I'd be equally if not more pissed off!

No need to apologise, it is fucking annoying when that happens. Bad luck.

fucking hell mate, that just overkilled, were they trying to nick the bike?? (as in twisting the frame to break the D-lock).

Stuff like this just makes me scared to lock my bike up anywhere, i go to 2 different six forms in Camden with known delinquent students (one of which had someone run into the school with a shotgun to avoid police(no one was hurt thankfully)). Ive had my tyres slashed twice and the paint on my handlebars scratched off, i really dont get why people do it..

Thanks for the kind words.
Like you said Rosmal, makes me worried to lock it up again, especially if it was somone at Camberwell who did it.I don't think anyone was trying to steal it because my D lock was around the seat tube and rear wheel and cable lock was around f wheel and headtube/downtube.

This is why i hire killer-bunnies to guard my bike.
They are professionally trained to only go for the testicular area. -

ive had a bike written off by somebody who tried to brake a level 25 abus D lock by twisting my frame around it. idiots.

I bought a new bike last year and before I'd had it 5 minutes wifey jumps on it to show off how she can still ride a bike - except she can't. Welcome first new scratch. Luckily she hurt herself too when she fell off - saved my knuckles a bruising ;)

I feel for you, makes a whining about a dent seem way too trivial.
