I disagree with that, although there was a lot of excitement from 2008, most people still think of the TDF as the "go-to" cycling event.
If Cav or Brad had "won" the TDF I think the SPOTY result could have been very different.

In any case, it's got to be fixed to give exposure across all sports, and it wasn't that long ago a cyclist won it.

I would like to see if there was much difference if he won the green jersey, but I doubt it.

What annoys me about SPOTY, is that often people win it for doing things that at least one person has to do every year, for example people winning some tournament or championship. Someone in a world has to be boxing world champion, someone has to win the ashes, someone has to win the F1 championship, and someone has to win the tour de france. I think it should be awarded to people who do something that no-one else has, or very rarely has. For example Chris Hoy's 3 gold medals at the same games.

No, I got his (MC) book in paperback for Xmas and the theme running through it from beginning to end is that he thinks most of the BC sports science stuff is bollocks, he never looks at his SRM data and every lab test he does has says he should not be a pro cyclist with those numbers.
