looking at that map, it's a rabbit warren of one way streets. it'll probably take me an hour to get from the park to this green if I keep having to stop and look at the map.

if people don't allow enough time, it's going to end up rolling out at 11 and the arrival time will be fucking midnight

yeah, i am at the brick lane courts at 0830 try and be on time people, same for anyone at HPC, we won't hang around there long. yeah i know it doesn't take an hour to get to richmond from there but when have any of these things ever started on time.

happy to bow to local knowledge and kick off on richmond green, wherever the fuck that is.

Who is / might be riding back?

I'd quite like to do this ride - do I have to ride a fixie? If so, could you recommend a decent starter fixie? I'm not sure whether to buy off the peg or go for a self-build.

And what about gearing? How do you work it out, and what's a good all round gear for riding from London to Oxford? And are cut down risers the best thing for riding in a large group?

Currently I'm watching a Sean Yates, an Axle Merckx, and a Marjory Dawes on ebay, and I like the look of the Charged Plug and the Genesis Nightline in my local Evans Surgery.

What do you guys reckon?
