I have some old shimano sora sti shifters on my beater (single speed) was wondering if anyone has ever converted the gear shifters into a bell mechanism? I don't want to buy one of those big ugly things that poke out the top

ha! crazy idea!
hmm.. how about hacking the shift cable to an airzound?
would need to dremel / break the ratchet/pawls unless you want upshift = on; downsift = off again -

good that the frame is corrected for 26" 100mm originally, so the longer fork makes the ride feel really fun but stable however it does mean i can only get tension on the ebb at the bottom or it would raise it too high - just chucked on a spare 26" to try it but will rebuild old 29er wheel with a fat new rim, maybe the 51mm stans and run a 3" tyre?
We shall see soon anyway, now bring on the snow please! -

Since cracked and welded aluminium frames will be in in 2015, I'm joining the club. The CRACKsnoventa is ridable and I can say - I really missed riding it.

Good thing about being French is that it's not hard to try and find NOS 650b stuff, like rims.

turned my leader 722 lo to singlespeed as riding fixed led to knee pain.different front wheel to save the leader wheel's brake surface.

If you're gonna ride singlespeed, you gotta put a back brake on as well.
Were you riding brakeless previously? why not fixed with front brake?

I didn't realise you needed different brakes for road or mtb levers. My plan was mtb levers for now and probably road levers in the future, is that possible?
I don't know if this is a bit late, but if you're not using gears the Tektro FL750 flat bar levers are cheap, light, comfortable and look good. They are only for road calipers, cantis, and mini-v's.

So I snapped my chainstay last week. Was a fake colnago so served me right. Being a cheap fucker/uni student went to the club to ask if anyone has a spare frame about. Lovely old boy said I needed a real one and I now have this
Under strict instructions that it must be used, not sold and not hung up, I am pretty happy with that arrangement.
Problem I am having is that the rear recessed nut is seized in place, bolt was rounded before I got to it. Whacking it with a hammer from behind did nothing. I guess I will have to get it drilled out unless anyone has any suggestions?
Other than that need an italian bb and set to go.Haven't a clue what I am going to do with it. I guess stick some tiagra on and ride it every day till my legs break.
@tilover thanks mayne.
It's a Prestige. Took some creative dremeling to get the rear guard to mount to the 'inline' stay hole, but it was worth it because now the only visible hardware is on the fork. The frame doesn't have a chain stay bridge so the guard just sits on the stay, but so far its rock solid.
