  • Built this today.

Thanks to London Bike Kitchen for showing me how to press a PF bottom bracket and lending me their hacksaw. Very helpful.

Looks awesome, even the tyres don't look too out of place.

  • Summer/fair weather disguise; new 110mm stem; some spacers; can slam but i'll give it another couple of hundred miles.

Winter disguise; Ambrosio nemesis on novatec

  • finds quotes on how long JB's 'dale will last

looks lovely though, ride nicer than the dale?

  • Haven't ridden it. I've always, since the day I got it, said the dale was a stop gap frame until something I wanted popped up.

  • Winter disguise.

You need to do more other than just junk miles on this. You're planning to build up some mileage going into the winter?

  • I'm going to be in amazing shape as winter starts.

  • ^^ NOS Suntour BMX freewheels are great.

    cheers!

I noticed some big weekly mileage!

Do loads of 'cross and peak in time for... er Christmas.

  • My functional mince pie eating power will be pro-as-fuck

What do you mean? (genuine question btw)

I have a winter/everyday commuter bike that I used for festive 500 last year (plus more winter mileage). I am thinking of using this more this year; all year round if possible. I have already put 400+ miles (no commuting involved) and it rides incredibly well.

  • You realised that the brakes is underneath the bike, right? and you intend to take it into the deep dark of the English winter?

  • cheers!

    You're welcome, handsome ride btw.

  • what's the built volare weigh in that guise?

  • No idea. Around 8kg at a guess. Wheels aren't particularly light and all components are alloy.

  • nice looking bike. saw there was a bunch of nicely priced volares on ebay rece... I am looking for a new frame too, hmmm

  • It was one of them. From Paul Milnes Cycles. Great service, great price.

Maintaining low HR whilst powering through Christmas dinners+pudding+pies. Yum. As good as any reason to ride a bike.

It looks like you'll have the kit to race next year, I gather that's the intention?

If so, you'll want to be doing some regular riding (not short commuting rides).

  • oooooooooh hoho

    oooooh repped.

  • Ha, missed that dimi. Very good. Incidentally one of my favourite songs, though I prefer the McGuire sisters version.

  • missed that

    cuntaaaaaaaaaaare woah ohohooooo

    Ouch...

  • Standard r500 a better choice over the bladed ones?

  • No, the plain gauge spokes are a bad idea, pay the extra for the butted spokes.
