  • AX brake looking strong bro
dinky argos is supercute - what size wheels?

  • Do you have any v-brakes lined up for that bike?

Got the brakes, yep, but need levers, shifters, crankset, front and rear mech, BB, etc. Cassette that came with the wheels in an 8-speed, which seems tricky to find compatible bits for. Might see if the hub will fit 9-speed instead.

  • Lovely!

  • Plan is obvs fixehskidder

When I saw dat concept90 wishbone I just had to have it.

    ^That looks amazing.

On a wishbone theme, here's mine:

Thanks to sumo, I had some motivation to sort out my road bike. I couldn't work out one very annoying sound it was making, suspecting rear wheel and it's spokes. Last two months it was sat by the wall gathering dust.
Sumo took it for a spin for me and couldn't see anything wrong, no strange sounds, only adjusted the gears slightly. As soon as I got on a bike, sounds appear, and he goes: "Spokes!".
My suspicions were correct. So I spend some time smoking a jazzy cigarette while tensioning and truing the wheel, and it now back to being rideable and silent, but that wheel needs some love from someone who knows it better than me. Will give broken777 a call soon about it.

    Thanks again Henry!

  • could somebody offer me some crank suggestions, please.
    for my monsteur functional bike.

    I want:
    nice and sleek look
    external bearings
    110 bcd
    170mm length
and something a bit out of the ordinary

I used to have these on the bike that got stolen.
So far I've been looking at Campag UltraTorque, but would love some other specific suggestions. also 'specific' as in offer me something you have for sale.

  • Buy my rival cranks :P

  • Such a good bike.

  • That Saracen if effin sweet! What model frame is it?

thanks. not exactly sure. its an early one from 84/85. it was sold as a "city bike" but don't think that was its official name. its fully lugged 531AT. most likely built at F.W. Evans.

  • Looks a bit like a Conquest...
Don't know if they had any other models at that time, it was early days for the British Mountainbike industry...

  • i love that bike. really nice builds. it inspired me to get mine.

  • i would love to see your bike built up with gears and bull horns....... you know you want to.

  • I probably will in the end...
My last lo pro was bought to make rad fixeh but I took a more mature decision straight away and made period correct TT build....
This time round I'll allow my inner child to enjoy skids/risers before I grow up.

  • Whilst we're on the subject of TT steel - have you still got that rad Dave Russell?
I've started building my RobertsTT of similar era

  • the shorter looked really great. i know you will do justice whatever you end up doing with it.

the DR was sold a while ago. it was too large for me. it went to a better home.....i hope its having a good life.

Thanks for your vote of confidence, hope I'll be worthy of it!
Shame about that DR it was very nice....
At the end of the day we're just curators/users not "collectors" - these bikes need to be ridden & enjoyed!
Previous owner of the Lloyd had it in a shed for years... Back in '94 he did a 25 in 56:11. I assured him it'll never go that fast again, but at least it'll be ridden with glee whilst in my possession - if it ever ends up dormant or unloved in my shed I've no doubt that a happy owner will be easily found

  • James, please build it with gears and risers, and then sell it to me.

  • ^ you've got first dibs

  • Awesome :D hopefully you can't get along with the fact it isn't red and ratty.

  • haha very good.
I do get along very well with some shiny bikes - one of them's not even red!

  • Mudguard link please!!
