After planning and collecting parts for a Surly Straggler build for about 6 months (I have pretty much everything except the frame), I got offered a really good deal on a Genesis Day-One 853 frame. So after finding the parts I needed to butcher it and run it with a rear mech I ordered it, and it will be arriving in about half an hour! Its own thread will follow shortly!

That's the next step - Cannondale have changed the design so you don't need the cap its already supplied under the tapered shim.

swedish cottage? a mate of mine lived in goeteborg and one in stockholm for a erasmus semester. don't recall from which exactly (i reckon stockholm?), we got a boat into the archipelago which was littered with houses like that. apparently lots of swedes have cottages and spend their weekends there.. childhood envy, as a kid we went to a campsite here in nl! (which did have a huge ass swimming pond and an island though..)

Yep like u say they are quite common here. Rather big country compared to the population so lots of space in comparison to alot of other places.
This one was built by my grandparents. I appricate it alot these days as its very calm n quiet but as a kid i was not all that eager to spend my summers here for the very same reasons. Would have traded you for the camp most likely ;-) -

^^ Had a little tour through the archipelago last September, reminded me of the Whiteshell area close to me until the passenger ship swam into view...

Nah this is more like a forced to be in bed bored all day ebay event due to the accident. But the moots will be built up again in the coming week.

Sorry to besmirch what's been a nice page so far, but here's the MTB. Not quite rideable as the clamp bolt for the stem is rounded off so I can't tighten it, and the seatpost is far too short for me. Which probably means the frame is a couple of sizes too small.
I'm thinking of getting new forks for it (rigid carbon), would it be better to get a disc fork and a disc brake for the front and keep the v-brake at the back?
If so, would it be possible/worth finding an integrated 7-speed and disc lever, or get separates?

Well i paid nowhere near that but yeah point taken.
