  • Do we need a LFGSS cat 4 thread?

  • What is ball park membership?

If the club is moar elitist do they charge moar?

I want to feel part of something bigger through my wallet. Even if I just wear the club lycra to Tescos.

    Buys Martini CC

  • Do we need a LFGSS cat 5 thread?

    ftfy

  • I bought a mountain bike.

Something has to go. It might just be my Ellipse wheels if I can find a cheap rear with a wide rim.

stop being so fucking coy (as JB would say)

    it's the Donohue, isn't it?

It is, I wasn't deliberately trying to be coy, just writing a quick message while I waited for my PowerPoint to load at work.

The seller offered me a great price in the end and I couldn't resist, my parents live about a 20 minute ride from some great off-road riding at Delamere Forest that I've never properly made the most of, plus loads of towpaths and stuff to really make the most of it.

    The one we discussed?
How are the new forks/stem/bars working out?

I haven't ridden the orange Donohue since the ride home due to the rear spoke issue, but on the way back it felt great.

  • This one. I don't know much about MTBs but I do know I like Donohue bikes with nice tubing.

  • ^^You need a new fork, that's a crappy pogo stick that came on cheap dirt jump bikes.

  • Which one do I need and how much is it?

  • What do you want to do with the bike (terrain etc) and how hard do you reckon you'll ride.

  • Probably better off going rigid for the time being. Not many v brake forks about. An old Rockshox Reba with brake studs would be good.

  • Just do what need to be done and ride the hell out of it.

  • I just want to ride around through mud and between trees and things which I can't really do on a road bike.

No sick air is on the cards, every time I tried to jump on my old CBR mountain bike as a young 'un I went over the bsrs.

^ I'd go for carbon and probably keep the v brakes.

  • If the terrain isn't too harsh or rooty, rigid isn't a bad idea at all as mentioned above. if you want some bounce, I'd keep a lookout for something high end from a few years back that still has mounts. 100mm XC forks serve pretty well.

  • Tommmmm that frame is sweet. What's it made from?

I've got some decent v brake compatible marzocchi forks going spare from a while back, bit heavy but great forks.

  • I thought you might have had something, are they 1"? Can you link me to a thread/picture?

The seller reckons it's 753, the bike used to belong to the man himself as the seller bought it off him and lives in the same town.

Cheers for the link, they look like a good option if no cheaper ones are forthcoming.

  • 1"?!

LoL no... Don't think the forks on there are as it is.

In Greece till the weekend but can dig them out when I get home if you want....

  • I'll have a look when I go home at the weekend, if I'm allowed. I would love a picture if you get time at the weekend.

Not sure why I assumed it was a 1" steerer, perhaps because all my other Dons are.

MTB usually have 1 1/8 much earlier than road bicycles.

  • The frame is back from the paint shop.

  • nice, what is it?

  • I built the frame.

  • Sweet, what's it made from?
