would appreciate thoughts on how to build up.
to be used as quick fixed town bike, cages and straps.
think i want to keep period, early 80s apparently.moar: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ic284wn9la1giz1/AABzM-xaK_-_JMsCRyGREoTxa
(really feeling the rear bridge)
(thanks to jim3971 for the photography)edit:
this as inspiration: http://www.lfgss.com/post4280758-438.htmlIf it were me, I'd do a period correct looking build but with some more modern components where it matters most i.e. sealed bb and sealed hubs.
see:
Replacing bb for Phil and hubs from Campag Pista to Formulas made a huge difference. Period correct build was nice to look at but felt too fragile.

Heh. Top lel. Each to their own, if Amey wants to spend all his money on pricey wheels then who are we to judge.
You're obviously mistaken in assuming the price of HED wheels is equal to all of his money.

Nah, was a genuine question.
Although deep tubs and a saddlebag looks a little funny.
Stop mincing around and say you think. You think amey has more cash than watts and you're jelly of his ridiculous, ridiculously tasty wheels. Don't be shy.

Another failed CP thread from me. Frame from forum's ad. Stripped down and rebuilt with some components from a previous bike and a couple of extra bits. First "serious road bike".

why fail? looks a good build imo

Ultegra really is the flavour of 2014.

^^ I failed to create a CP thread detailing the building process due to lazyness :)

^^ it is! Expecially when it is so tempting because of CRC discounts.

Dale paintjob is rad

New tyre glued on the back, and a pre-glued spare under the saddle:
Needs a bloody good clean still, and I need to fit new brake pads (conveniently, I found four SwissStop green in an old box yesterday, which was nice).

Especially on an older CAAD. That paint is fucking sick. Wish my CAAD8 looked like that! Sweet!

That was rather my point, help yourself to a parrotwoosh.jpg

I am running GP4000S II on 23mm rims (your old ones as well Dammit).
Such a great ride.
-
• #94445
Think my GP4000s 25mm come out as 27-28mm on Archetypes (which is why I kept them!), not much of a shock with a wide clincher rim.
That Serotta really is a thing of beauty Dammit, pretty much my ideal classic steel frame, and a tasteful build too, much envy. stareslongingly

Aye, I know it's well understood, I just thought it was interesting* using a tubular which will, in general, be bang on the marked size, to compare to the variability of a clincher which is so dependent on the internal width of the rim.
I really want to ride the Flo30's, need the bike back from Norway first though.

Just perfect from bottom to top! Cant wait to get my Serotta Csi Road bike. I think i will open a thread for it.

Love the Rotter...
What seatpost is that? I still need to find a 27.2mm Campag Record Ti seatpost, but that looks nice too. Been putting off these small changes I want to make to the Somec.
I'm also planning on changing this Fondriest Ti stem for something stiffer, and get some road pedals. (Campag Record from the Titanium era probably, but open to suggestions).
Also, wider bars and maybe a sealed bearing headset.

The soma bars are notoriously flexy why not try some deda or nitto bars with that stem first? I think it's pretty stiff as far as quills go.
Get some Zeus bits to match the drop outs ;-) I find they work well for period correctness and for hhsb points if needed.
