  • you dont really 'need' discs ; )

Good cables; well set up brakes and swisstop pads

  • I do need discs, there's no brake bridge.

  • ^^ You also don't really need gears but who's complaining.

Will be interested to hear how you get on with the cables to[m*7], I found them a pig to set up on my road bike but I'd imagine a single length should be a whole lot easier

  • ah crap i thought it was non disc equilibrium; i take it back for serious biek get enves otherwise kinesis

Well Lads, that's my beast there, only got her very recently. After realising the TT is too long :(

Just wondering would a smaller stem and compact bars be an acceptable option, stem is currently 110mm. I be needin around i'd say a 50-60mm taken from that.

and do compact bars and modern/short stem look daycent on old frames?

If you're riding on the hoods, you can shorten the reach a few cm's by using compacts, so maybe you could compromise by using a stem which is still a sensible size, e.g. 80/90?? And obviously I'm biased but compact bars can look perfectly OK on old frames. ;)

I don't think I will ever own a biek serious enough to warrant a £460 fork.

I don';t think anyone outside of a few elite racing cyclists would (and I'd know if I was one of them, I'd have a race number braze on).

Kinesis looks good though. I need some scales to see how much weight it would save!

  • Also the discs didn't feel great on the Pompetamine so I wanted to make sure this time round I was doing everything I could to optimise performance.

compressionless housing carefully cut and installed, ensure rotor is perfectly true.

I managed pretty well with BB7 after much faffing about with the rotor to the point that there's no caliper brakes that will stop me as effectively as the disc, especially in the wet, but I would not go back to single calipers after trying the Spyres (setting up is much quicker, and be sure to ditch the stock pads for a Shimano one).

2015 model come with carbon fork instead (and bright yellow!), worth waiting to see if you can buy it separately?

  • Tommmmm use picasaweb / Google photos they give you more storage the more you use and it's straight forward to use/navigate. Only thing it lacks is the option if specific sizes but you can get round that easily enough (drag the window until the image is the size desired)

    I'm with you on this

    although I'm biased too ;)

  • are we readers wiving now?! good, gives me an excuse to crosspost my own biek in this thread.. mind you, mine's a '77..

  • excusez-moi pour le mudguard

  • what bars are on the somec apollo? i like the compacts, but ild also like some more "extention" in the ends. yours look like they are longer "behind" the axis where they go in the stem if you catch my drift. mine's are piega compacts

  • ahh, i see, highway 1's (pedalroom).. ill eventually have to fork out for a pair of those then..

  • That gazelle is tight! Also really dig the practical approach, all mixed up, but works together
    just perfect!

  • its actually tout shimano 7410/7710 with some more modern levers that have a big "shimano" on them. spring returned too, saves biro spring workarounds.

its a consolodation, rides like dream. thinking of swapping the rims to a319s (silver/32h) or swapping the ofmega hubs on the og wheelset to wide charcoal touring rims to cheapo sealeds (36h) and sell off current wheelset to cxp33s.

ideally ild find some 7710s considerably cheap in 36h but i guess thats not going to happen.

rack transplant from just sold graham weigh is possibly also on the cards. and fitment of chrome forks to get rid of overlap.

thanks though, i also really love her!

  • I just bought some Pasela tyres because they were so cheap and I've had good experiences with them before. The trouble is they are 23mm wide. Should I put them on the Equilibrium with wider 29er rims and keep the 4 Seasons on the road bike with RS30s, or swap them over? How much wider will they feel on the wider rims?

I currently have Specialized Nimbus tyres on there, which are supposed to be 28mm but actually measure 32mm.

  • minoura workman pro,
just picked one up cheap, are they shite?
    anyone have calibrating experience?
i'm thinking of enhancing it like this to make more accurate

  • are we readers wiving now?!
