Anyone have experience of dealing with a rounded nut on a Campgnolo Ergo lever clamp bolt. I was a little too gung ho for an alloy nut.

Carefully cut a slot in the bolt head with a hacksaw blade or a dremel if you feel brave (if you managed to strip the bolt, I can recommend the hacksaw...) and use a flat head screwdriver.

What is it? Leader TK1?
Very nice. Although I disapprove slightly of the shamal/shimano combination... :)'tiger' tk2, lighter tubeset and carbon stays. I taped over the decal because it's awful. I know the shamal/shimano thing is a bit naughty, I got the group super cheap and couldn't say no...

before you try that ^^ get a torx tool and hammer it inside the bolt and try to undo it.
Looks like TX20 or TX25 is the size you need. -

experience of both.
lbk is a great atmosphere and generally knowledge is super sound. i built my ridley oval there (integrated head tube too) and all was super smooth.
bikeworks no comment.Ah that's great, thanks for the info. Yep, they seem like a friendly bunch. Will definitely give it a go there once I've sourced the remaining parts.

The question is... is Jose going to get Sptr bars?

Finished the first proper build for a frame I've had for a while now. Not period correct or anything (or even particularly pretty), but I quite like it.

Apparently, no, reach on them is too long for him. We had this conversation yesterday.

Looks like TX20 or TX25 is the size you need.If it's anything like the bolt on my Campag shifters then it started off as a torx bolt, which means that trick won't work in this case.

The xenon's that were nicked off me used an allen fitting - did yours come with torx? I could see someone retrofitting it as an anti theft attempt..
-
• #90163
Yep, came as standard with torx bolts. Mine are Veloce units. The torx fitting is a right PITA as it means you can't use a ball-ended allen key to get at the inaccessible bolt head.

After trying the hacksaw blade and mutilating the head even further, someone over in the office workshop dug out a set of these. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008VPRD8S/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00096JDL2&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=06GFFABKJWFSHX0NWBB4
Worked a treat. I recommend to anyone with a stupid inaccessible campag alloy torx nut.^^ Your shifters got nicked off you bike? That's harsh.

Carbon seatpost, steel frame, Tacx paste: how much torque?
-
• #90167
Can back back to building this now.^ I'd say as little as possible, possibly between 3 and 5nm. But I'm the guy who rounds torx heads so don't listen to me.

For riding without hoods or with a shorter TT sptr bars are perfect, I find SRAM hoods longish so I'm going for something with a shorter transition area. Namely the Nitto M106, which I will be ordering as soon as pay day comes.
Plus they come in silver

nah, whole thing went, shifters were just the relevant bit to the conversation!

What's the clamp bolt? What's the seat post? With an M6 bolt and no specific instructions from the post manufacturer, I'd say max 8Nm, and I've used that with good quality (Easton) kit, but it's probably enough to kill some stupid-light posts.

M6 and twenty quids worth of "Colin the Bald approved" Chinese crabon.
I've gone to 5Nm with no crunching and I've sat 85kg on it and survived...

Next up, I've fitted a Cane Creek 40 HS and some Felt forks, which leaves 29mm of steerer: I'm not going to get a stem on there, am I?
