  • 47x17 or fuck off.

    :-)

  • On the subject of bikes for the bird, I just finished this...new Reggie Columbus Zona frame from Macvillain

Sorry for sidewaysness...couldn't get the pics to upload right at all!

  • freewheel with no brakes? good luck.

  • Finished?

  • Bike as relationship analogy
    -unfinished?
    -no brakes?
-and of course the Freewheelin' Bob Dylan

  • freewheel with no brakes? good luck.

sanctimonious tw@....of course not! just wanted to see it without the brake first. i'd quite like to keep her face the way it is.

  • single front should be fine...although I don't like the relationship connotation :)

  • Whats te frame/fork?

Fat City Cycles - Monster, bought it off retro bike a few months ago first outing on it today commute to work

  • On mixte's the rear brake is often mounted on the middle stays, I cant see if yours has a place to mount there. But even where it is, you should sort out your cable routing, it should come from the underside of the brake not the top. You'll be getting a whole lot of friction how it is, which will probably jam the brake as the cable gets older.

Also, unless your GF is into speedway, you may want to adjust bar angle.

It doesn't have a bridge in the middle, the top on is drilled and the cable routing is on the right hand side so I put the brake underneath, plus I think it looks neater. I know the tight angles aren't great though for cables. not sure how I can have it come out of the bottom.
The photo was when it had just been put together. Since she's now ridden it, the bars are corrected and everything tightened up

Very nice (although white tyres aren't for me).

I used those cranks on a friend's build and have just bought a pair for myself: the milling of the flutes isn't brilliant in places, but you can't argue for £60.

Just undo the cable fixings from each arm and swap them over, turning them upside-down at the same time.

Thanks...I recognise I have an affliction there. I've tried therapy in various forms but its just not happening. I can't help myself...plus don't you think girls get away with it a bit easier?!

    you can't argue for £60.

So this...cannot fault Andel at all at that price...plus managed to get one logo-free. Eventually will replace the chainring...not really a vintage-look guy but I've had a shot at trying to get things in some kind of keeping. To be clear, I wasn't trying to take a pic of the crank...just (poorly) showing off all the lugs, etc with it being a relatively new frame to come out. Colossi made with Macvillain styling.

  • Cause it's expensive as fuck, trade cost as much as the Brooks does in retail.

I loved mine, really comfortable, for the first 10 minutes I thought I have less pressure in the tyres only to realised it's the saddle that was giving.

Only nag is that it's missing the cut out that I enjoyed from the Selle Anatomica saddle.

    Moment I lend it to a friend, Brooks announced a cut-out version that's coming out;

Source? Was just gonna order the C17 but might just have to wait for this.

  • Deda Murex

That only seems to be available in the high-polish silver now.

    Has the frog failed again?

Does anyone have any experience with the Murex?

  • Rethinking for what which bike is for I figured that no matter how nice KHS flite 100 looks it doesn't really do it's job as a commuter and I want something more sensible. So I'd like to hear opinions on frames that take 35mm tires and mudguards. Pompino and Surly Steamroller are first that springs to my mind, what else is there?

  • The Frog hasn't failed, I just like the open faceplate quill vibe so much I want it on my orange fixie too. I'd settle for a Salsa though.

I opened the box of the C17 and my boss says "very nice, why didn't you get a C15 though?"

    Cue me replying "fuck"

Initial reports after 2 miles on it is that the C17 is a great saddle, very comfy and I don't even feel the need for a cutout. The grippyness is great too, I really hated my last Brooks because of how slippy it was. I usually ride 135mm saddles so anything too wide means my legs pull me off the front of it, so need to give it a proper test but may have to sell it and wait for the C15 to come out.

  • Stanley knife? Custom cut out?

  • I still love this paint.

Brooks said the C15 will probably not drop until after the summer.

  • Yeah, Autumn some time.

  • I'd settle for a Salsa though.

    Wouldn't we all.

I concur about the grip, was worried about wearing out my bib short, but it's perfectly fine.

I loved that it's narrower on the nose than a conventional Brooks and it's actually flat for once, just need a cut-out, as I'm fairly sensitive downstair.

  • 12-25 has a nicer spread with smaller gaps twixt gears and the 34 range overlaps nicely with the 50 range.

12-25 is even nicer with 48T outer, you hardly ever need the 34 except as a bail out. Of course, all of this is highly contingent on how fast you like to go and at what cadence.

  • Just undo the cable fixings from each arm and swap them over, turning them upside-down at the same time.

That doesn't work with modern brakes, and nobody is going to suggest reverting to a Weinmann 500
