The only thing that niggles at me to change it is the forks, I'm not really a fan of the look of unicrown forks for some reason.
Spotter, wait till the Genesis Equilibirum Disc fork become available, they have lugged crown and 631.
Good shout.
As Genesis don't seem in any rush to realease these forks to the public I've started making some enquiries about getting some custom made. Probably going to be in the region of £200

What about a Surly Disc trucker fork?
-
• #88004
I did think that, but its got clearance for 45c + mudguard and my current one is only 32c. I'm pretty sure that would muck the geometry right up
-
• #88005
Which forks do you currently have?
-
• #88006
The stock Cr-Mo Unicrown, but the old ones so they dont have rack eyelets.

Bit of googling... Croix de Fer forks are 387mm a2c, trucker 700 disc is 390mm. Think they are both 45mm rake. Disc equilibrium are 375mm apparently so would be more likely to mess up your geo...
If you're not talking about the Croix de Fer feel free to ignore all this rubbish.

Thats good, yet strange, information. Thanks. Can someone explain how can a 3mm longer a2c give you 10mm more tyre clearance?

Girth?

hehehe

Not all about numbers, shape is important too. Surly's has less metal getting in the way of the tyre.

Genesis have approx 65mm of trail (measured from my bike), which is idea for CX, but if you're getting a new custom fork, ask the framebuilder to build a shorter trail one to ensure better handling with a front load and still handle well without the load, says 50mm trail.

What's the disc trucker got?
-
• #88014
More or less the same I reckon.
-
• #88015
Hmm hmm maybe the disc trucker fork is the answer

This evening I am supposed to be getting ket ready for a ride in the morning
You're not doping properly...

• #88017
Good tip - probably why this morning was 1.18 for 25 miles. Guess that's what happens when you get training advice from the dogs vet.

I thought it was going to be the Moser / Rigi ... looks like its the Rossin Record. I now have a Rossin panto'd Record crank set ...
I have got quite a few record hubs but I think I will put the early 28 hole Hugis .... I have some very early low profile carbon tubs (HCS, German)I'm loving the subtle boast posts.... ;]

Slowly but surely coming together, finally got some spokes so built wheelz. Dura-ace cranks & chainring in customs, prolly gonna have it sometime next week.
E: also sorry for potato pic, my phone and lack of sun in Finland makes me sad.

If I had a frame like that the sun would be shining in my soul

Sorry - weren't meant to be that way. I'm too old and too fat to be fast as gets shown if I try to stick with our clubs young guns on a Sunday! I wouldn't rate my bikes compared to the array of jewels seen on here but I do love every bit I find for them - probably because I'm new to all this retro stuff.
I have to make the most of the time I have left here to build up my stash. After 18 years in England we are planning to sell the house this year and retire to NZ at the end of 2014.

^ Please don't take offence - I'm painfully jealous of that Moser and look forward to seeing the Rossin progress.
(1h18m for a 25 this time of year is not bad in my book either) -
• #88023
No offence taken. I can't wait to try the Moser Rigi thing once I collect up the right bits.
If you are anywhere near me when it's done you're welcome to have a ride on it. -
• #88024
Brilliant - I'll keep an eye on the build and drop you a line when the time comes. Back in the day I had a skinny tubed Moser made from Oria. (That was when I was quick!) I don't know about you, but the older I get the quicker I was.

What do you have in mind for the Rigi?
Itching to see it built.
Couple of Reynolds 32mm rims? Nvm, thats definitely not in the same price range.
