Got a carbon frame with Aluminium lugs (LOOK KG231). The seat tube diameter should be 25.0 but measures 25.1 at the top of the tube.
When inserting a 25.0 post there is a visible gap. Would a Nitto shim or the brass suggested below as suitable for bars be suitbale for a post?
The tube 'feels' loose the whole way down. Ifff the diameter is 25.1 the whole way down, not just at the lip, then would there be any issues shimming at top only? With carbon tubing? Surely it is not likely to be 25.1 the whole way down...?Or just buy a proper shim.
Also bodged shim depends a lot on what bars you have, drops or horns, real bad idea...
Or just buy a Nitto shim if bike shops are closer to your house than engineering shops.
+1
coke can always starts to move after a while for me.Buy some 0.3mm (12 thou.) shim stock, brass or nickel plated steel work equally well, you can cut either with stout scissors.

so what you're saying is pretty = white?
This is her opinion yes. The rest of the bike will be blue and white with a little silver so I think white will keep it all neat and consistent.
That's she talking through him
What do you mean?
Bet Phil is reluctant to teach her about ''Once you go black...''
Well there is that...

Ahh yeah. I just thought you meant that I was telling her to get white not black but i suppose that would have been me talking through her.
So yeah :) -

Also, I'm buying the last bits for her build. I don't know anything about brakes, I've only ever rode brakeless or mtbs, bmxs.
I know its a really amateur thing to ask, can you tell me if these would fit?

Is that frame for 27" or 700c? and which are you using?
-
• #86983
I don't know what its supposed to be, I will check
I'm using 700c, the clearances look fine and not too big so I'd guess at 700c but I'm not sure -
• #86984
Best off measuring the brake drop you'll need, although I'd assume you'd be better off with long drop, it's hard to guess.
-
• #86985
I think its meant for 27" wheels although I couldn't see a definitive answer. Long drop will be fine for 700s though?
But also, those will physically fit? bolt on and everything? -
• #86986
Yep, just get wide rims and 32c tyres for it, the main advantage of a frame made for 27".

I like it much!

Bought this frame off a customer for £60 the other day, past it on to a mate and built him a nice little everyday beater. A stop gap for him, will be getting it back off him in the future to build it up for myself. Obvious problems are the brooks and gash coloured sidewalls on the tyres but as I mentioned earlier it is just a beater.
Anyone know about Glen Appleby? His name is stamped on the BB so assumed he is the frame builder, not found anything on him as yet.

The brooks looks lovely on it!
Just needs some gum walls and then its a beaut -

Fitted a TRP R925 Reverse 'Aero' front brake to my 4T.
I had this caliper for about 18 months and tried to fit it to at least 4 different forks and the EC90s are the first ones that can accomodate it...
I need to cut the fitting bolt to remove the 2 spacers located in front of the brake hole then it will look better.
I can't remove the spacer at the back of the forks otherwise the tyre rubs against the caliper and the pads against the tyre...

I will take a complete bike picture when I receive my new bullhorns. At the moment, the bike looks like this:

Is there much difference in having the brake at the rear compare to the conventional front?
-
• #86992
Even if not, looks cooler!
-
• #86993
It doesn't

Haha fair enough.

I have only ridden into work with it this morning so I can't say.
I only use the front brake for emergencies so I will probably not see any different in braking performance.
Much aero'ness has been gained though...
