they give you the ability to adjust chain tension and keep the disc brake at the same place relative to the hub.
I'm going to build that as single speed, and there is the option to go 1x10 later.

Negaatio, that is looking very sweet indeed, looking forward to seeing the build in progress.
Saving up at the mo for either a Rychtarski or Orlowski steel frame meself, especially after seeing Psee's gorgeous pink, while still tasteful, Rychtarski, and your new Orlowski.
From what I've seen, they both seem to be quality builders.
I want a tapered HT, discs, just about enough clearance for 33mm knobblies, and after seeing yours, possibly sliding drop outs (tightening up the wheelbase for skinny tyre duties maybe...).
I know little about tubing though, so interested in what made you choose the Zona tubing Negaatio?
How much extra did the drop outs cost?

Hmm, I dont know how much did the dropouts (lauble fichter from germany) add to the cost. I'd assume they are a bit cheaper than paragon as they are from europe.
I picked up zona just because he suggested it :-) Supposed to be relatively light, sturdy & reliable.
There is clearance for 45mm in the rear and 48mm in the front (enve tapered cross fork). Chainstay lenght is 415 at the minimum. 1cm shorter than modern crossbikes, just to make it a bit more agile for skinny tire rides.

Nice. I think from an aesthetic point of view I'd have to remove the horizontal adjustment screws, once set.
-
• #86611
The screws react the chain tension, so if you remove them you're just relying on friction between the sliding and fixed parts of the dropout. I'm sure you could come up with something a bit more aesthetically pleasing than those cheap hardware-store bolts without throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Obviously the horizontal screws are to initially set tension, but those 2 button head screws would have more than enough clamping force to do away with the horizontal ones once set. No probs.

You say that, but many's the man who has pulled his wheel in the dropout even with M10x1 track nuts holding things together.

btw orlowski does his own headtubes, but does 44mm not tapered at the moment

Hmmmm. Ok. Can't have been properly torqued.

Thanks, that clears things up somewhat, will bear those dropouts in mind, they look alright.
I know Psee said the guy he spoke to at Rychtarski had limited english, but how good was the english of the guys you spoke to at Orlowski (if you spoke english)?
I'll also be using a CX fork, and was thinking of shorter 420-415mm stays meself, but the sliding dropouts would work a lot better.
I know that both Dedacciai and Columbus both do integrated 1-1/8" to 1-1/2" tapered head tubes and bearing cups, so will see if that's possible or cost worthy, but it is just down to personal preference.
Will be very interested to see how much the frame weighs when you get it, so please check! ;)

He understood every little detail I had about the specs. His output is not perfect but at this point good enough!

coke can always starts to move after a while for me.Get some 200 grit paper on both surfaces, that way they 'mate' for a good grip., or even use a piece of the paper for a shim.
-
• #86622
^ Make sure to be death proof before doing that.
-
• #86623
sandpaper as a shim is a very bad idea.

Done; taking it for spin around park now.
