Was a bit bewildered by the sizing on the road frame, 58 square, but with a 160mm head tube. Seems short... Gonna be spacer-ing dat up for sure.
Don't worry, road frame have a much lower bottom bracket (around 70mm) compare to track (55-65mm).
If your Donohue track is a 58cm on the seat tube, then you'll fit well on the road.

Thanks Ed, yeah they are both 58 ctc, pretty much perfect matches.
Ideally for a road bike I'd have a 57 top tube, but this was too good to miss.

nice malayshnz
1 scoblebrick seems proper comfy

both looking sweet

Cheers Henry, I'm hoping that the road bike will ride a little like yours, but a bit heavier and alot cheaper. Dat same 853 magic though.

mine rides even nicer now it's got more Enve. True Fact.
-
• #84908
Ha. No enve here. Out of interest, do you know how long your headtube is?
-
• #84909
TM, if it's definitely a 58 square, then your headtube length is the least of your worries with traditional geometry bicycle with horizontal top tube.
In fact you can actually 'slam that stem' on the road bike.

110mm ctc 170mm ete

Threw some parts at the 'nag. Maybe next year I'll get some correct campag for it, but for now - shit mix of 105, Ultegra 6500 and Dura Ace 7410.
Seems fine, and paint is actually pretty great in real life.

Needs a longer stem though. This was just the only 26mm one I had to hand.

160 head tube is ball park(ish) .. My Enigma Elite is 175 and my old Esprit was 171.
If you're going to put a King headset in the Donohue the extra upper stack height of that headset could reduce the need for some of the spacer stack .. King total stack 31.4 quoted. Tune Bobo 24.6 quoted.

That's 85. I do have a 100mm but it's 26.2. I'll see if it fits tomorrow though and let you know.
I don't know whether I'm imagining it, but does the front end seem really tight? I've just taken it to the shops and back and it feels lovely, but I'm paranoid after Rossin-gate that the front end is a bit odd. Rossin definitely felt very strange when steering, but I don't know if this is just different to what I'm used to.
Forks aren't original so I can't tell from google images what the down tube/tyre clearance ought to be.
I've been riding on Ksyrium Elites for the past couple of weeks so it may just be the wheels feeling floppy in comparison.

26.4mm surely? You can shim that, no problem. -

That's what I thought. Are cinelli bars not 26.2? Dunno where I got that from then.

Old Cinelli standard was 26.4mm, up to some point in the Nineties I think.

So beautiful - I'm sure setback and long stems will sort you out (many prefer a cx with a little shorter reach, than roadbaik). Bump your progress in the SSCX thread.
Bah! - this is on the back burner for now - about the only size seatpost I don't have in my collection (29.4) and I had really wanted to use the original stem too - for the integrated cable guide - but it's a random bar clamp diameter. The intention had been for a 'spend nothing other than brake blocks' build but that won't happen so it'll have to wait until i've more time. There is a kinesis crosslight in my size i could build up but it's not sparking the same enthusiasm at the moment.

Interesting bar angle.
Finished fiddling with my Donohue... Really happy with the way it rides, every part is exactly what I want, tough reliable stuff. (aside from the front wheel, which is usually a Phil/Velocity Aero to match the rear)
Entirely built from forum parts apart from the chain, chainring and bartape. Highlights include the £15 seatpost, £15 CK headset and £0 bars.
In fact finished just in time for my next Donohue project, bought from an old timer that posted in my Donohue appreciation thread.
Was planning on repainting, I'm not really a red bike person, but the problem is, the paint looks absolutely lush in the steel. The tube profiles are beautiful as well, the seat stays in particular, are almost rectangular. I think it's going to ride amaze.
Plan for this is Reynolds Ouzo forks, Cosmic Elites, Ultegra 6700, Spin ti post, some compacts and maybe a deda stem... Got everything aside from the groupset, so trying to have a clear out of bits I don't need to finance the group.

In the meantime, if anyone has a mint or VGC, black or grey, complete Shimano groupset, preferably 10 speed, going for a bargain, hit me up.
Ideally after Ultegra, but if you had 105 for a steal I might consider...
