  • So I got a fairly scratched up Fuji Track Comp...

  • him/her

    Her.

That's what I initially typed, but I ninja edited it as I know how touchy this forum gets about assumptions.

I'd have gotten nerged otherwise for being a homophobic misogynist meat-loving pro-war pro-life Daily Mail-reading BNP supporter.

  • I actually Lol'ed, fair enough for his - her, don't matter either way

  • So I got a fairly scratched up Fuji Track Comp.

Dropped it off at Armourtex yesterday. Matt black. Should be ready next week.

Roboto made some stickers for me that when applied will look like this:

Got all my parts ordered and they're being delivered to my LBS in the next few days:

    Columbus Aero Tusk Fork
    Cane Creek Integrated Headset
    Deda Newton Pista Stem
    Deda Elementi Pista Bars
    Black Omniums
Front: Black H+Son Archetype laced to a black Paul HF Hub
Rear: Black H+Son EERO laced to a black Paul HF Hub
    Vittoria Open Corsa SR Tyres
    D.I.D Track Chain
    Surly 17t Cog
    Thomson Black Layback Seatpost
BLB CNC Flatliner Pedals /w Restraps
Probably gonna put Lizard Grip tape on the bars...

    Haven't got a saddle yet.
    Any suggestions?
I have a Specialized Toupe on my other bike and I like it and get on well with it except for the spiky nose. A cuppla times I've been stabbed with it whilst being silly.

Looks really rad/stealth and the build spec sounds awesome. Good to see the Deda Newton Pista stems about too.

I have robotosickers on my Brodici too and they are v. good quality

....but, they have started peeling (you can see the star above is coming off?). I wonder if there is a way of protecting them? i.e. spraying on some laquer over them or perhaps helicopter tape? I'm assuming you're getting his vinyl cut jobbies over the powdercoat?

Look forward to seeing finished product..

I was concerned about peeling... Following the powdercoat, I'll be applying the vinyl cut stickers and my intention was to take it back to Armourtex whereupon they'd clearcoat it. They're fine to do this but it will be a wet lacquer rather than a powdercoat. 60 quid. I was fine with that until he told me that "These frames are cheaply made..." and once he stripped it, he could be revealing dings and dents that had been filled prior to the original paint job. If it turns out that it isn't perfectly smooth once it has been powder coated, I might just put the stickers on and swerve the clearcoat rather than throw money at a dented frame.

Still not got a saddle. There's some kind of Nectar points extravaganza on eBay this weekend so I might just have a look what's out there.

  • Thanks for the free plugs!

I think the best way to keep the vinyl from peeling is with a clear coat over the top. Without this, all vinyl has a certain shelf life. Having said that, I don't think any of the vinyl on my bike is peeling yet.

Also it's a good way to customise your frame without having to repaint it all the time and if you feel like a change you can just peel the stickers off.

Any requests can be dealt with over PM. ;)

  • I think the problem is that the star is at the exact point my D lock rests when it's through the front wheel and the frame

  • First sans-backpack proper ride on the Chinese carbon yesterday.
OH MY GOD the bike is fucking amazing!

Fits like a glove even with ergonovas with the 77mm reach and a 110mm stem I am guessing it'd fit even better with PX Strada with slammed stem. The only thing I couldnt do a lot was ride on drops the way I do with Deda RHM.

The power transfer is astonishing (mind you I've never had a carbon bike with mahosive BB shell area) and its comfortable at the same time.

    Rotor cranks are really stiff.

Overall impression: Zero regret of letting CAAD10 go, this is a much better (and lighter) bike for its purpose.

  • Surprised it much better than CAAD 10.

  • Absolutely 100% better.
CAAD10 was little to big for me (around 1.5cm more than what I need) had a flipped 80mm stem.

  • Surprised it much better than CAAD 10.

Massive dose of confirmation bias will see to that.

  • 100% better?! is that even possible...

You haven't even been on a long ride on it yet?

  • Sorry I am bad at math.
What I meant was I am 100% sure that it is better.

  • Massive dose of confirmation bias will see to that.

    This

  • I dont understand tester, are you saying I am wrong or ordinata?

    Do I even english :P

  • are you saying I am wrong

I'm saying you have just spent a few hundred on a new frame, you're not exactly a disinterested observer when it comes to deciding whether it was an upgrade.

  • ^ still dont get it :P

CAAD was a size big for me anyway. If I had it in the right size i'd think of it differently. It was a 52, 50 would've been an ideal size.

  • basically you just spent a load of money so you're going to want to like it

  • basically you just spent a load of money so you're going to want to like it

Ah fair enough, yeah could be.
    But I LOVE this bike.
Anyway less talking more riding right? ;)

  • Apollo + Private Patterson - I'm going to stick some graphics on the Nature Boy.

Got a big can of clear coat lacquer that I've used when re-painting the frame. If you want to spray your frames with it, rather than buy a new can, just drop me a pm.

  • Bought a Pompino frame. It's gonna be a fairly boring build, Shimano cranks, Open Pro wheelset, Thomson seatpost and assorted other finishing kit. Should be good for some cheap dirty fun this winter.

  • Thx tndrln

    Ditto.
    Thx.

  • Would this be ok for re-covering a saddle?
