  • ftfy, and no.

    Trollolol....

That's what I typed first. But then thought it might be a bit cruel.

  • I'm not saying he shouldn't upgrade to current Chorus

  • A little bit of me dies inside every time you show us "updates" on your Vivalo.

If that's true, and you really invest so much emotional energy in someone else's bike, then I think that says far more about you than it does about the bike.

Personally, I think it looks fine. Not my cup of tea, but chacun à son truc. Considering one's own subjective tastes to be somehow objective truth is the height of arrogance in my book. Which is, of course, my own subjective view on the matter and nothing more...

  • If that's true, and you really invest so much emotional energy in someone else's bike, then I think that says far more about you than it does about the bike.

This, entirely. Each to one's own and all that jazz...

  • Did you even read my follow up posts?

  • No one does that... Sure if would make sense to do so, but no one does that.

  • If that's true, and you really invest so much emotional energy in someone else's bike, then I think that says far more about you than it does about the bike.

    :)

  • Did you even read my follow up posts?

Yep. They didn't seem inconsistent with your assertion that "A little bit of me dies inside every time you show us "updates" on your Vivalo.", and certainly didn't amount to a retraction of them. Your words, not mine.

Personally there are more important things in my life than the colour of the components someone else chooses to fit on a bike. Evidently this is not true for you. But, as I said, to each their own. It's your burden for you to bear.

    It's a bicycle. Not a show pony.

    @roboto
While I totally agree with danstuff, surely this was meant as a compliment.

They didn't seem inconsistent? That's good. That's what I wanted to put across.

Yo dawg, I think you're overreacting to my reaction, so I'm going to react to your overreaction and not retract my initial reaction. I simply used a turn of phrase to point out my disappointment in what I feel could be a really nice build. This is the current projects thread on a forum where people can post their thoughts and views.

I also have more important things in my life, but took a little time out of my day to write about something on here. Much like you have. Maybe it wasn't clear but I never mentioned the colour of his components. That is you making your own conclusions up. Maybe you think he needs to change the colour of his components.

    It's a bicycle. Not a show pony.

Yes. It is a bicycle and certainly not a show pony. However, with a bit of sparkle and magic it could turn out to be a beautiful unicorn.

  • ^^ I'm flattered. It's true that I do care.

  • roboto nerged for being honest

  • lol jok you got mad rep yo

  • oops nope must spread rep

  • Meh. You say I've over-reacted, but claim that a part of you has died due because of someone else's component choices on their bike? I suspect I'm not the only one to spot a teeny weeny bit of irony there.

I guess I'm just not really cut out for the Bike Porn/Anti-Porn/dissing other people on Current Projects thing. Maybe it's a personal failing on my part, but I really just don't care enough. I like seeing other people's bikes, but if someone else likes something different to me then that really doesn't bother me. Maybe I should be more judgmental. Maybe I should delude myself into thinking that other people care about my subjective tastes. But I'm not going to, because at the end of the day, I still don't really care.

Anyway, I'm off to find one of the more important things in my life which I claimed to have. Must be one around here somewhere, even if they are proving rather hard to find at present.
