  • That looks really nice Howard, what brakes are you using?

TRP Spyres - going to bed them in this evening hopefully.

  • I was chatting to Sam at LMNH this morning, he built up a cross bike for a punter using the HY/RD's and he says they are excellent- best in class type stuff.

I've asked him to get me a pair.

  • I'd pretty much build it up exactly like that.

Probably without the hidden scobel stack though - it's set up so that I can ride it at the moment :)

I was made aware of these Wolf Tooth rings the other day. The ring I fitted is a Thorn single and I'm hoping it won't need chain retention as the mech is Type 2, but if it drops the chain I'd be tempted to swap the chainring out rather than cough up for a guide.

  • I've got a Thorn 44T- inner chain guide but no outer, stayed on through the Bethlem series with an 11-32 at the back using a 105 mech.

  • 44? You beast. Which inner? Would prefer that to a guide.

  • Attempted to do a semi period correct type build with this, without doing any actual research. It's lacking a rear disc and would probably have been better with Campag cranks but still pretty happy with it.

This is how I found it, the photos are a lot better than it looked in the plastic...

  • The K-Edge one I think*, I did have the Salsa Crossing Guard on the outside but it didn't play well with the chainline when running on the small end of the sprocket-stack.

    *I'll check that.

    EDIT: Yep, the K-Edge one.

  • black ergostem and it's porn-worthy perfect!!!

  • I love it.

Yellow Ergo stem is a win.

  • Finished building up the lady's crosser - quite green, no?

    So much want.

Bloody cheap on PBK right now too.

I'd pretty much build it up exactly like that.

    +1

Probably my size too. Looking forward to some more pics of this.

  • Yes TM! I take it this is a temporary thing though given the veloflexs, they feel so good but totally aren't designed for sick skids.

Looks good. Is that a XX1 rear derailleur? Otherwise you'll have issues with the chain staying on.

I'm leaning towards the yellow stem for borderline tackyness.

Yeah just built it to look pretty to be honest, saving those tyres for the track. Will probably be putting Royce/Archetype wheelset on it, very tempted to order some tougher tan walls as I think they look great, may get some paselas when I have some spare $$$.

  • borderline tackyness..

    • doing it right

    probably my new favourite bike
    (would rep but "must spread...")

  • nice

  • On a scale of 1 to 10, how stupid is it to (get a pro to) drill a 3mm hole through the bottom bottom of the steerer so I can run this brake up through it? The potential of a whole build depends on it...

  • bottom of the steerer? do you mean the crown? and how would one hole allow you a mini v?

  • With a bit of play, may be able to run it like this one

  • Looks good. Is that a XX1 rear derailleur? Otherwise you'll have issues with the chain staying on.

It's got a roller clutch in it if that's what ya mean. The curious cable entry is the give away.

    XX1 is 11 speed, non?

I cant imagine a 3mm hole would be too dangerous, its not like tt bikes go off road.

  • aluminium fork crown or carbon? i'd say no worries if aluminium, more so if carbon but you could probably still be fine with it, maybe reinforce it with a few layers of carbon weave then drill?

  • No idea...I suspect carbon. The whole thing (fork aside) will be a custom steel frame, so I'll see what he says about feasibility or reinforcements

  • Bought this (in perfect condition) in Berlin last WE, just need to find the right bike/frame for it... Shame my componments are too modern on my witcomb, would have look nice...

I'm sure this will be in my pile of parts for years before I use it, but I loved it when I saw it and just wanted to have it...
