My new project:
Mega rep to Dae and TM for allowing this to happen:
That's track, lo-pro* and road frames in 531, 653 and 753. I'm done.
Don't think I've seen the track, but yeah, I was always blown away with the quality of my Argos track. Great builders, amazing painters. You done good.
Think I saw an Argos tourer/audax in our size on retrobike with full campag 30 speed for like £400 if you need that to perfect the collection...
Getting closer to finishing, the bars/stem length I can not get quite right

I reckon Nitto/Velo orange noodles or Randos? Would allow a little more stem too...
32c Paselas and a link out of the chain too.
holy shit! Were the forks pre-drilled for brake?
yeah pre-drilled, just come unbonded (not sure on the bonding method used...) sorry for reccomending you them!

What taper does the french TA Specialiste pista cranks take? ISO?
-
• #81956
I installed some TA specialities road/touring cranks and they used ISO.

Currently hoarding parts to build up this forum-bought modern steel - entirely surplus to requirements and wholly impractical for winter, but I can't wait!

Checked VB and it's ISO.

I'm in the process of re-glueing tubs to my race wheels. What is the best thing to remove small glue drips from the brake tracks? Will white spirit be ok or might it damage the carbon/paint?

Lolly stick and a bit of effort?

how did you get glue drips on the brake tracks?

yeah good call on changing the colour. but, since they're cro-mo, maybe you could just strip it and clearcoat? this would look nice i'd imagine
-
• #81969
they have "Cromor" on the label, same as Cro-mo? strip and clear coat could work well, i like that idea.....

Columbus Cromor
Built of cold-drawn, chrome-moly butted tubing, this set is for the more demanding riders who favour versatile, high-performance light frames, but can also be used for larger frames. Cr Mo Steel

What taper does the french TA Specialiste pista cranks take? ISO?
Do you mean Spécialités TA Alize Piste?
Pista = Italian
Piste = FrenchAnyway, 110mm ISO. I haz Stronglight SBBA for sellz if you're looking for a good BB to go with them, I rate the Stronglight BB over the TA Axix because it has better bearings and is a true cartridge BB, rather than separate cups with cartridge bearings, so bearing alignment relies on the aluminium cartridge rather than the BB shell
Stronglight SBBA cartridge bottom bracket 110mm¹ ISO BSC 1.370 x 68, clean and free running but also rebuildable with standard 3903-2RS² bearings £30¹Nominal size; due to the vagaries of Stronglight's measuring method it's actually 111mm overall
²£29.99 per pair for full complement version
All of which is not to say that you might not be better off buying two Shimano BB-UN55s, one 107mm and one 110mm for a total of £27.92, and then sell on the one which doesn't give the better chain line. I think the optimum JIS axle length for the TA cranks is going to lie somewhere between 107 and 110. Note that the link for 110mm is for the 73mm shell version, because that allows you to use a shim of less than 2.5mm under the drive side cup if you need to bring the chainline in a bit

"...found some forks, not drilled..."
Whatever you do, do not drill them!
Nick! hope you're happy with the bike mate, good to meet you as well. your collection now looks most excellent, if not a little too perfect!
