This will be about 250 gbp more when done than what we sold her ladybike with a basket for. Hopefully money well spent if im able to keep budget. I tried riding that lady bike and it is nothing other than transportation, just no fun. Hopefully this will be different for her. If not this frame holds value over a forseeable future so figured it was a no brainer really.

  • That the stem I'm getting or another?

  • Your stem, i'll clean it before you get it.

  • Cool, no need to clean it mate.

Can't be having shiny parts on my beater.

  • Looks like fun.
How come you're going for cable brakes?

Cause hydraulics is a pain in the ass imo :)

  • I've had a Donohue reynolds 631 road frame for about a year now, and I finally built it up properly (sort of) and got to do a ride on it. A snapshot from along the way:

The groupset is shimano 105 (5700). 50/34 compact with a 12-25 cassette, the range felt pretty sensible.

    Stuff to do:

    • Try out a shorter stem, I felt a bit stretched out as is. Replace the quill adapter and ahead stem with a quill, possibly a tall nitto technomic.

    • Get a shimano BR-451 rear brake, the 105 didn't have enough reach for the rear.

    • Replace the fork, or get the current one fixed. The headset crown race doesn't fit tightly on the crown. There was some moisture trapped under the crown race, so I'm blaming rust.

    • Replace the indexed headset.

    • Fit mudguards.

    • Get the frame repainted? Paint is missing in a bunch of spots.

    • Fashionable randonneur front rack & bag? I'm guessing this might fall into low-trail territory.

  • Pretty much my very first road bike build. Had problems sourcing the tools as I didnt want to buy a huge toolkit, cant justify buying one when I'll only use like 4-5 tool from the actual toolbox...

I'm selling it at the moment, but for now, the upgrade is continuous until it actually gets sold... Keeps me busy...

Bought the bike from Dimi a couple of weeks ago. Originally had Dura ace and Mavic Cosmic Elites on it but I have decided to put campag stuff on it after a couple of days.
So had Bare frame after taking everything else apart.

    • Eddy Merckx Team Telekom Colours

    • 53cm

    • Corsa Extra SLX

    • Campagnolo Chorus Groupset 8 Speed

    • 52T/39T Chainring

    • 170mm Crankset

    • Campagnolo Record Rear Derailleur

    • Campagnolo Aero Seatpost 27.2mm

    • Campagnolo Vento Wheels

    • 8 Speed chorus cassette

    • Vittoria Veloflex tyres

    • Dura Ace Headset

    • White Selle San Marco Regal Ti

    • Generic Condor drop bars "40cm" and ITM stem "110mm" - 26mm Clamp

Still looking for a shorter pantographed merckx stem.. and grooved dropbars...
I still have the Dura ace headset that it came with from Dimi, not sure if i should change it or not as I cant really justify buying one at the moment..
The pedals are supposed to be SPD until I lost one of the cleat bolt on my shoe so had to use the pedals on the photo in the meanwhile.

As the post above, I'm thinking of getting the frame resprayed as well as there is a lot of rusted chips on the frame. But not sure if this is really worth it as "condor" said the chips builds character.. I have the actual paint that matches the "telemagenta/pink" part of the bike but not sure if I should actually do it myself...
Thinking of actually building my own wheels with some ambrosio rims with some campag hubs or maybe something else... Any suggestions?

Having problems adjusting the limit screws... cant shift to the biggest sprocket without hitting the god damn spokes..

Going to try my hands on a fixed/single speed when my bikes gets sold and down to 1..

  • Don't respray it! Unless you pay Argos huge money to completely replicate the awesome paint job it currently has.

  • Respray? Just don't!

Nothing wrong with some patina (although I can't spot any in your pictures, frame looks very good for it;s age)

  • Jeez. Don't respray it whatever you do.

Yeh, doubt I will go that road anyway... had a quote before and it's going to cost close to £300 and it wont have the decals whatsoever, so pretty much i think its safe to say it will be more than £350-400 or something.. just a guess..

  • dont. its patina. original you get only once.
plus, youre selling it, why doing your head in for it?

  • Why are you putting a short stem on it to sell it? Surely you want to let the knew owner decide how they want to setup things like that?

I'm still the owner, so everything I put on it right now will be removed and the ones listed will be installed. but at the moment, it's just for my own satisfaction hehe

  • You can't explain that.

    :-]

Yes, stick with the Ventos. You won't build a better wheel, plus you'll be hunting around for hubs with 8-speed compatible cassette rotor.

  • So nicely done^

    wow.

  • That De Rosa looks gorgeous!

  • I've totally dismantled the BeeMC. Want to get it 'just so' before packing it away for winter.

-Rebuilt right shifter (must remember not to get violently angry with expensive italian components in the future).
-Swapped stock forks for 3T Tundra Pro - Saving 200g
    -Recabled with shorter outer lengths.
-BB swapped out - Old BB was absolutely fecked.
-Dremmel'd replacement top bearing cap for perfect fit - For very nearly 'slam dat stem' status.
-Replacing wheel bearings with some Ceramics I've had for a while.

Should push the bike well under the 6.5kg mark, and get everything running smoothly. Might actually weigh it.

  • Damn, that looks good!

  • what is that stem ?

    Ellipse ?

The bars are useful but dosen't look realy porn...
    The Flite is crushed

    But nice build.... De rwoooaw

    My roadfixedgear cockpit amentities.
