I don't know the answer to your question though, I'll let you know if it works... I don't mind only using 5 or 6 out of 7 sprokets if derailleur limits me...

Ooh a Campagnolo Victory, reckon you'll be fine as those supposely max out on 30t.

  • fantastic work spotter! Would love to hear about the compression-less cable experience.

I just went home for lunch at it was waiting for me, didn't realise it came without the liner though. Anyone got any spare? Dammit?

Also I need to measure it as i've got a feeling i've bought 4mm by mistake which doesnt do brakes

Just did a quick test - 11-28 work fine, as long there's less than 10t jump on the front chainring.

  • Good news, thanks!

  • Purchasing this frameset + bits in a few days

    • Building it has a permanent (for a year atleast) beater/commuter.
    • Thinking all black components except from the seatpost because 25mm's are somewhat rare.

Yea, I haven't bothered looking due to the fact that I'm buying the frame with the seatpost. + I don't have 15 pounds to be spending on a seatpost.

  • £3.40

  • Built this up today...

Stem will probably be slammed and seatpost will probably go up a little once I fit SPDs (tomorrow). Bottle cage for training rides, obviously will come off once race season starts (if I have any bollocks left after hopefully 'perfecting' the art of remounts and dismounts).

Saddle will be replaced some something less chubs in due time, not sure what though.

    Wicked fun to ride!

  • Ooh a Campagnolo 990.

Ed, do some research or stick to commenting only on stuff you've actually held in your own hands.

    How about £14.85 :-)

Tester Approved™ Kalloy SP248 is available in 25.0/black, but at a cripplingly expensive £16.48

  • damn it .. i got Tester'd. :(

There's a handful of variation of the Victory derailleur, the design are pretty similar, which mine look.

Annoyingly enough, there's no marking on mine to says anything apart from appearance.

  • New to lfgss, but been flicking through the forum for a few weeks, My current project was restoring a gifted Chessington Cycles racer, back to life, Im a Product design student, so took the opportunity to sandblast and paint the frame myself. Id been sourcing parts all year, i had help from a mate who worked at Halfords with the retreading of the frame so a new caged bottom bracket could be fitted. I then sourced a mountain bike crank set and removed the smaller and larger tooth to retain the 38tooth. Im still working on uploading photos, but will upload some soon.
I also flipped the bars and cut them to make bull bars. The real bargain was in the wheels, i managed to source a bucked mavic open pro rim with a shimano hub. I was badly bucked and missing a cassette so i got a single speed kit with an 16 tooth. Used the spacers to get the chain line spot on. Finally got a seat and some mountain bike pedals. Upgraded the brake pads for better stopping power. Managed to complete the project for under £80. But hopefully the first of many. Does anyone have any info on Chessington cycles, I was told its an European bike, from late 1970s. Any info or questions on the build let me know.

    It's actually a 980, love.

    Vello's:

  • you got ncjlee'd

  • you got ncjlee'd

    Quick! Someone make a meme.

  • Obviously you chose to use the 990 in Century grey finish to make it look as though there is more difference between 990 and 980 than is actually the case. Once you see the first silver 990 next to the last 980, it's pretty hard to tell the difference. I don't think the first 990s even got the different pulley cage shaping...

Campag are notorious for making running changes, so the catalogue images don't even match what gets produced and sold every time :-)

  • What would I know - I haven't handled either :-)

  • Tester Approved™

    It's gone to his head!

  • Return of the spokzzz for the bank holiday weekend...

  • he so shy

  • It's gone to his head!

Looks like Theory Swine coined the term here more than 2 years ago.

  • Quite the coiner, that guy: he came up with my nom de guerre.
