  • Yeah, I like the look of radial on the front.

The rear is 2 cross (solely because he had high quality spokes in of the right length to do that pattern) looks cool though!

  • Haha! Just had another look at the picture. That one cross look is actually due to the fact the wheel is slightly oblique to the camera, it's radial laced really...

  • "That one cross look is actually due to the fact the wheel is slightly oblique to the camera"

Yes, I will need to look more closely.

    All the same, nice wheels!

  • Right here is my Gitane Super PIsta 74

I bought it frame only and I have been looking for track forks for it since then (a long time ago) I have never been able to find any with a long enough steerer for my mammoth frame. I had one pair of Concorde forks with campy drops that were so close! but about 50 mil too short, think they are in 31trum's grubby mitts now. The forks that are on it currently I put on just to get it on the road until i find the real deal, but in nearly a year I have still found nothing. I am considering these ( http://bit.ly/2eBOmP) but they seem grossly overpriced to me, what do you think? The tange website has some suitable stuff (http://www.tange-design.com/tange_2007/forks2.htm) but no contact details or info of UK dealers. So anyone have any chrome 700c forks with low rake to sell?

the spicer site has some stuff i like too but shipping is v expensive (http://spicercycles.com/itemlist.cfm?pageId=83)

it's looking like track forks for this will cost more than the frame. i love itt o bits though, frames like this in my size (62cm) come around very rarely so don't want to give up on it.

    help or opinions?

  • Not quite in the spirit of the thread, but it is a current project.

These just arrived in the post- got to go to Leicester to have them fitted- anyone want a lift there/back, or need anything picking up?

I'm no expert, but i reckon someone like Mercian will be able to build you a set of forks for under half that!

  • really? i thought forks from a frame builder would be more than £100?

  • 125 is too much to justify, i'd start another project for that.

  • 47.50 for a new fork column if you already have track forks that are too short?

  • no 31trum has them. grr.

  • ...and that ain't a bad thing right ?
FINALLY got mine sorted how I wanted it fella. 8 glorious months.
will send you a pic soon as the photographer's* been round.

    Lovely Bob btw.

    *Ed? you do "not-quite-still" life?
No not at all, I was just making the comment that i've got my kiddies bike and I've now got a more sensible bike. Rourkie, although it's 'unrideable' at the moment, is pure HHSB. I think it'll be a while until it's 'rideable' again, so our Rourke Lo Pro ride (think daisy chains and riding through the Surrey hills holding hands) will have to go on hold. :(

new pair of forks 125 pounds

Jesus, i stand corrected! had no idea they would be that much!

  • Nice one Ed. Nice and understated, which clearly isn't my thing, but looks swish.

And for those that care I went for silver spokes in the end. The all white looks gash, and both the yellow and pink availible to me weren't close enough matches to the frame.

And the fecking seat tube is a stupid size. Grumble

  • what size is the seatpost? even if the spoke look silver, your bike still going to look loud enough!

  • snoops you're a big boy...

  • all build up, unfinished thought.

hey, what chainring is that on those miche (?) cranks? is that a silver miche advanced chainring?

  • @Ed, did you have the forks drilled on the BJ?
    (answer requires photo)

  • fork are drilled as standard, be useful to do the london to brighton ride on it than buying a £60 clamp-on brake, as for dogmatic the chainring are exactly as you said, expected they're from Condor, where you can either get it in all-black or all-polished (without the big "MICHE ADVANCED" logos on the ring too).

  • what size is the seatpost? even if the spoke look silver, your bike still going to look loud enough!

    Lol, yeah, true.

Not sure what the seatpost size is. I think its 27.0 or 26.8. I hope its the former. Difficult to tell without either a plethora of different sized seatposts or a digital caliper.

  • Hey Harry.
Cheers for the mention. Here are a couple of pictures of your frame i took before handing it over. (i still need to give you those tubes)

I also painted the Lady Midas bike for cyclodelic topshop promo.

Im quite busy at the moment, but for serious enquiries get in contact samfishy(at)googlemail.com.
I specialise in fine art applications and creative sprayfinishes. If you are after a single colour, i would get a simple powdercoat elsewhere.
If you are after a high quality finish and something a bit different, get in contact.
2 colour fades from £110 including materials and prep.
    POA

Genuine enquiries only. Please dont have a daydream and wonder how much it will cost.
    Many Thanks
    Sam Fish

  • @harry. 26.8 isn't that hard to find. my seatpost is 26.8. depending on if you want a nice one/vintage/generic one it shouldn't be too difficult

  • oh that isn't so bad, at least it's not those uber thin one like you get in those peugeot bike (something like 24 dead!).

Sam that's defintely a quality paintjob, nice one!

  • thanks.
Ps. im not as unfriendly as i sound in my last post. sorry.
