This isn't so much a current project as more like the end of an era for me. My work horse/commuter/CXer has just had a rinse down and oil before she goes into storage for a few years. She's carted a lot of weight about London and has seen 2 pretty horrible winters but she never complained once...I'll miss her.

Scored a nice used All-City Space Horse off Craigslist for the wife a few weeks back, and recently finished tweaking it for her. It had a few ropey components on it and had obviously had a few 'favourite' bits taken off before it was sold.
Been tweaking it and touching up the odd paint chip here and there, as well as re-cabling those fucking cantis about four times, installing new pads, cable inners, yokes, straddle cables and cross-top levers before final test-fit, cable-trimming and wrapping new bar tape. Did the odd spot of 'custom' paint too.
Thankfully, she 'quite likes it'.http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2866/9480235349_2931988b03_o.jpg

Not happy with the angle? (power vs feel)

Kind of.
Recable #1 was due to poor initial braking power.
Recable #2 was due to replacement of all cables, housings, yokes and pads.
Recable #3 was due to requiring a fork-mounted hanger at the front and also deciding to install a Surly barrel-adjuster hanger at the back.
Recable #4 was due to both needing to switch the brakes over (wife is accustomed to left-hand = rear brake) and needing to install the cross-top levers.Part of me wishes I'd bought her some nice TRP Mini-Vs as an early birthday present...

I always limit myself to three re-cablings per session.
My sympathies. -

Does anyone have any suggestions for a light-weight bolt through skewer? Something with an allen key bolt rather than qr head
-
• #80872
I suggest you don't :-)
For ordinary steel axles, my 'tap the axle and use short screws' hack is lighter, cheaper and more secure.

Needs a service.

This is my first part build. Got it off the forum last Wednesday and after a week of sourcing parts, I spent Friday putting it together. In my day of education about how to put a bike partly together, I found out that CycleSurgery gave me completely the wrong advice about chains and had to buy a a chain tool on Friday at 9pm (Thank you CyclePS). There's still stuff to finish off, but its nearly there!

Hmm that certainly looks interesting but Im not sure Id have the wherewithal to do that (I have neither the space nor the tools). I was thinking something along the lines of these controlTech race lights
tricky when the tape is just over an inch wide.
