How strong are Alloy forks compared to Steel?

I'm looking to put a rack on my beater and it advises to use Steel forks, no carbon .. doesnt mention anything about Alloy.

I dont want my forks to fail when I'm carrying a couple of crates of beer home

So the meticulous Benotto 3000 build is coming to a close. I've used repro hoods and Nuovo rather than Super Record shifters, and if you look closely it's Cicolinea rather than Benotto tape, but otherwise it's pretty faithful to the original.

The really short mostly vertical dropouts make that a bit of a pain though.
