-17 degrees stem is negating that sportive rider, conical spacer. hehe
Position would be the same with -6° and one of my STS bearing covers.

Nothing wrong with the cable job! Well, the back brake cable is 2 cm too long, I still haven't changed it.
I actually like it like this, I have tried -6 and -10º stems and this is the best position I have found.
The picture is not very good because of the wide angle, couldn't get far enough to use a different lens.
Tester I will contact you about the sts bearing covers.
About the crank, this bike is more for being ridden than looked at, so in the meanwhile Rival is a very good group set.

Out of interest, how come you bought carbon wheels?
Do you race or time trial often?
Interesting choice, if only for training.

I was overcompensating, the original wheels weight a ton and I wanted something sub 1350gr.
Some races are in the books for this year, yes.
And finally, I like the look of carbon. That backfired on me when I received the wheels and the decals were under the clear coat.

I thought it wasn't a bike for looking at, hehe!
Fair enough, hope you're enjoying it! It 'looks' quick.
I went the other way; spending all my funds on a light chain-set and gruppo, with heavy(ish) training wheels.

Nice s2. There is not much you can do with cable routing on these frames. Some people run them by each side of the stem but it causes them to splay out and can interfere with knees. Just trim them as tight to the top cap as you can. I have mine the same having tried both ways. I don't mind the volcano cap. Probably looks better than the 5mm dust cap and 10mm spacer i run. They are quite short head tubes on the s2 (compared to newer cervelos) and its more important it fits and feels right.

Got offered this from the same place I've bought the trashed vitus lopro.
It's a cinelli starship, the patina of the frame is fucking rad,
however the downtube is cracked.
Could it be salvaged with a bit of TIG welding? I'd love to ad some canti mounts and turn it into a franken sscx.Best to talk to a frame builder. Don't Rourke do alu?
I'd be a bit wary as from memory Starship was one of the lightest tube sets ever (along with some deda stuff I can't recall) and was only really meant to be used for a season.
This may all be misremembered or made up but definately read around and only use a good frame builder.

2 part epoxy the crack
Sand down
electrical tape
decalSimples 4 Sure..

• #78088
^ don't do that.
-
• #78089
If the downtube is cracked, the rest of a Starship tubeset will not be far behind. It's worth about £1 at today's scrap aluminium price of £800/tonne

Just got this on the road for a mate.
It was a learning curve as I dont know anything about brakes or gears.

It'd be safer without the safety levers.

he likes the safety levers. Its the first road bike with drops hes ever had.

Should I go for on-one external bearing cranks or Stronglight 2000? Don't have a big budget and both seem like good value. Heavily leaning toward the on-ones at them moment.
-
• #78096
On ones are the obvious choice for performance. Just comes down to aesthetics...
-
• #78097
... and they're both ugly.
So on-ones.

60mm deep carbon rims at 1350gr a pair?

404 Firecrest Tubulars are about that, I expect skinny v-shaped Chinese crabon tubs could match the weight as long as they weren't also asked to match the performance.
I'm assuming the cables are as they are, because the stem length/ bar position is still being dialled in?
I agree with Alfie about the cranks.
