  • Definitely need the 34t ring, as the overlap on a 50t-36t is daft for tow path pootling.

edit: Mind you, the overlap means I might well be able to use the smaller ring in the middle of the cassette more...

Just get good at spinning @90rpm + and you'll get to use the 34 plenty. As long as you're not steaming along.

  • JB I can do a preliminary, simple bike fit, which is inexpensive you can PM me if you want

  • Time to buy new cranks?

I've never seen campag cranks crack like this before.

  • Woops!

The reason why I didn't consider the bagman is because I've found rear lights a bitch to mount effectively on saddlebags, and you can't just chuck stuff in them.

One of these clips snugly onto the Carradice metal badges on the newer model seat bags.

I imagine other clip-on types would work as well.

  • Loving the Concorde, but seriously wouldn't get a basket. Not on the front anyway.
I had one for a while last year, and it ruined the handling, faffed up removing the front wheel when I wanted to lock up, damaged my headset, rattled around like mad, and made my lunch jump out and land right in front of me when I hit a pot hole (ooouch!). Front or rear, your bag will get filthy if you don't have mudguards, and you'll have to cut and re-drill them for smaller frames because the struts aren't ajustable.

I gave up in the end and got panniers, which I have to say are a big improvement!
(Rubble sacks make them 100% waterproof, too)

My wife had a front Wald basket on her bike. She loved it. The handling wasn't affected too much (she used to carry a bag with a change of clothes, lunch and a U lock in it) and nothing every bounced out.

It was on a track bike with a front brake, the axle was bolt on, not QR, so there was no issues there. Her headset is still fine as well.

    Shit :(

I've seen a couple of threads where hairline cracks similar to this have led to complete failure of the crank

    Jobs Brandt on teh topic

When I add the wald (front or rear?) rack, it will be a great little summer bike.

I know everyone loves walds, but with the blue I think a wicker basket would be just as good aesthetically. They are also a lot easier to find. I got this is the one for my ex, it was cheap, looked better in the flesh, was the right size (2 locks + bag full of law books, or 2 locks + a quick shop etc.) and it held up well (I saw it knocking around Holbon 2 years on).

I would recommend using a 1" hanger support thingy to prevent wheel rub and obviously measure.

  • My project for the summer.

  • Installing drivetrain and taping the bars... You must be expecting a particularly long summer this year :(

  • Lynchy, you talkin' silly

that should be looking rad in no time.

  • ooh :)

Changed the pedals to clipless, put carbon wheels on it and took this out for regents park laps. It was immense.

    fucking love this bike

  • Poof, could you be up for some afterwork laps, just after 5?

  • afraid not. heading to the airport at 3 bru

  • ^^^ photos plz

  • Yeah photos buddaayyy!! Where you going poobrain?

  • I no going anywhere. Picking up my nan who is coming back from the oscars in cali forn i a

ill wait for spattr to come and take gooder pictures

  • I am not a fan of inturgreltarz :( would prefer de quill and some rounded not anatomic drops on the corrado myself, but dat is only my opinion

  • i dont like classic rounded drops at all im afraid

  • Those bars are probably a lot comfier as well tbf

  • Only problem with this, or any other basket/box with a large vertical surface area, is that it acts as a brake sail!

Whereas something like the Walds minimum surface area should have no negative affects (if done well).

  • soon...

  • That was posted about 20 min ago... How long does it take to put a chain on?

  • as long as it takes wiggle to deliver
