Not really my style*.
Besides, I don't suffer from the forum disease commonly known as T Rex syndrome.

We prefer condition to disease.
I don't think Apollo is afflicted with it though. -

curse the day I borrowed sumo's 60mm stem and edscoble saw it.

Fellow T-Rexee!
-
• #72256
It is fucking tiny thought, it's like a 0mm stem on a small bicycle.

Don't forget that there are some bike that have a short top tube but a very steep seat angle meaning it'll realistically be 2 or 3cm longer than actual.
I, like my fellow T-Rexees brethren, like the kind Apollo before me have fallen into this cursed trap.
Never again shall I let it fool me.

I'm pretty sure Apollo wears arm extensions
-
• #72259
Didn't think he'd be fit in a wardrobe.
Actually does his clothes fit in it? Must be a nightmare.

I thought T-rexism is demonstrated by the ratio of ST/TT (on a traditional geo bicycle)
ST/TT > 1 then you're a T-rex (provided bike fits, sensible stem length etc etc)?
-
• #72262
My T-rex ratio is 1.05
-
• #72263
How do you measure that?
What about frame that does not show seatpost much? Mine will be 57x53 with 73 degree ST.
Current is 54x54.5 with 74 degree ST.

• #72264
All good points.
As the Rex of the T-Rex Brotherhood, what would you say the inclusion criteria are?
-
• #72265
The correct shape of a frame is 73° parallel, square from centre to centre and with a stem that's 20% of the seat tube length. If that doesn't fit you, you're a freak.
-
• #72266
Is that why road stems only come in 10mm or larger?
-
• #72267
Long top tubes ftw.

What are we supposed to about bikes with compact geo?
I was on a 59x54.5 but if I go with a Seta it'll be more regularish. -
• #72269
Nooooo it's 58 square!
-
• #72270
So i got some plans.
I'm about to have a Huuuge clear out, then spend all the money on a real nice every day track bike, just trying to pick a frame, in order of favourite.
- Brother steel track.
- Brother Reynolds track.
- Cinelli Histogram.
- All City Big Block.
- Pristine Superior.
Hmmmm....
- Brother steel track.

There are some fairly different choices there. What do you want it for?
Big Block looks like the most practical option.

What about handlebar length? Most compact drop are very short, shorter than in the past when they used to have long reach around 110-130mm rather than the 75-95mm of the modern variety.
I do hate the lack of room behind the hood on my compact.
Of course brakes hood were very short in the past compare to the longer "brifter".

Yeah they are pretty different
Main thing is just something simple, low maintenance and enjoyable, some chilled commuting, some longer rides and just generally getting around most days, all weather, day or night.

go for the big block, they look great. I'm after one but cant afford the full whack so will have to wait untill one shows up pre-loved

Its very practical, but i guess its a bit boring. I always loved the look of a nice tight geo' track bike, yet to own one.
